There has been one thing about Destiny 2 that really upset me, but as far as I've seen nobody has really brought it up.
My problem is The Farm.
The problem isn't The Farm itself, but rather its purpose in the postgame. Because I love The Farm. It's a beautiful hub, and is just enjoyable to be in and wander around, topped with one of the best soundtracks in the game.
But why even go there after you've unlocked The Tower? One quest? A Cryptarch?
When I went back to The Farm postgame to check out what had changed, I was crushed. It was empty. Only one NPC remained. What an absolute waste of an amazing hub. The Tower is nice, don't get me wrong, but give us something to do in The Farm. Why go to Tyra to decrypt when decrypting usually also involves a trip to the Gunsmith to hand in parts?
It's just something about this game that really rubs me the wrong way. Does anyone else have an issue with this disregard to The Farm? Are there any hopes for an event NPC showing up there in the future?

I would like to see something done with the farm as well. At the very least, we could have some kiosks and redundant substitute vendors so it has all the same functions as the tower. Personally, I'd like to see it till up with unique vendors and host some of it's own events.

1 Reply“Future” DLC, probably.

1 ReplyHow much time and money was wasted on the farm? Instead of put into game content

56 RepliesEdited by deljhpFOREVER: 10/15/2017 11:29:38 AMIt also makes no sense in the story. The towers been destroyed... oh no wait.....10 minutes later it's fully rebuilt. What should have been done, is something like some end games missions where you work to rebuild the tower. Collecting materials , rescuing key personnel to help rebuild...... etc I thought of that in 10 seconds. This allegedly took 3 years to make😮
Are you done grinding planetary tokens for that armor you wanted? Are you done grinding the gunsmith for that rare gun you want? Are you done grinding the easy new raid for that armor you want because the raid guns suck? Are you done grinding the crucible for your Better Devils? Are you done grinding Trials of the Nine tokens because you can't go flawless due to sweaties? Well have I got the answer for you! Behold, IRON BANNER! (Now with 80% less iron) Grind endlessly for new Samurai themed armor and guns with an exclusive Iron Banner sticker, but with the added urgency of a limited event making you grind harder than ever before! Enjoy the absolute worse this game has to offer, with unbalanced teams, bad spawns, and meta players using the most broken weapons. Fight an endless war of attrition against camping Warlocks with infinite health, or get killed in literally under a second by the Last Word 2.0. Enjoy the endless droning of sirens as the clan you solo-qued up against captures the entire map. Lose to teams with FIVE TIMES YOUR SCORE who have been spawn killing you for the past five minutes. Get killed by a rocket launcher before you're finished the spawn-in animation, or get cross-mapped by fusion rifles. Try to capture a zone while getting hit from 8 pulse grenades, which aren't at all over powered when compared to the other grenades. Discover how useless anything that isn't the meta really is, as you're killed by the Antiope, Uriel's Gift, MIDA, and Last Hope consistently. Learn how powerful Fist of Havok is as the only roaming panic-button super. Ask yourself why Bungie left the Hunter "Wombo-Combo" in the game, only to never use the wombo-combo again, as your super, Shadow Shot, is literally just Nova Bomb, but completely useless. Wonder what the point of player choice is, as you discover the "One Path to Victory" Shaxx is always talking about is simply playing the meta, with any semblance of skill optional. But how is this better than the Iron Banners of old? The only difference between Iron Banner and regular Crucible? Gone. That pesky lore of the Iron Lords nobody cared about? Gone. The uniquely modeled weapons of previous Iron Banners? Gone. The ability to buy items as you progress? Gone. The chance to get Iron Banner items as an post-game reward? Gone. The ability to re-roll weapons? (bet some of you forgot about that) Gone. The rewarding experience of obtaining high level loot and powerful items? Gone. All those toxic downsides of Iron Banner are now more dead than the Iron Lords. Instead, grind away for meaningless tokens for the RNG slot machine that gives no guarantee your time will be rewarded. Win low level gear and weapons with an exclusive Iron Banner sticker, with a Iron Lord's chance in a SIVA replication chamber of getting the new Iron Banner exclusive Samurai armor, which doesn't match the theme of Iron Banner one bit. Listen to Overwatch easter eggs that remind you of better games you could be playing, and end your week feeling hollow for spending all your time grinding for the armor you wanted, only to get an endless supply of Iron Banner themed garbage sidearms. Let us take a moment to thank Bungie for this event. This event that showcases every single flaw of Destiny 2. This event that showcases the faults of the Crucible. This event that showcases how unrewarding the game is. This event that has managed to royally piss me off. Thank you Bungie. P.S. I'm never playing Iron Banner again...until some stupid new gear comes out and I force myself to endure more of this cancer and rip my hair out.
1 ReplyBungie makes the best environments and places to explore. Problem is, they're always empty.

I imagine activision entering Bungie Studios, running trough the offices and destroy all scripts and artwork before running out of the backdoor yelling "good luck improvising". But I'm with you. Couldn't belive the Farm was such a short affair. We don't see the whole Picture. They are releasing Little by Little. Maybe your thanksgiving will be celebrated there? In the other Hand, here in europe (which in the game the farm is in europe) we don't celebrate thanksgiving. I don't see october fest coming either (beer drinking german stuff).

Do you remember when they told us we would see the farm evolving becoming a great new social space? Hahaha
-
They should have the mentors and Hawthorne there as well as in the tower 2.0 It wouldn't be that difficult. Give me a reason to go there.
-
1 ReplyOh wait, you forgot the main reason behind the farm. It was so that you and your friends could hang out and play soccer.
-
5 RepliesThe fact that it didn’t go away completely means there’s probably a future purpose for it.
-
1 ReplyLike the reef, it will be forgotten, and then returned with payed DLC.
-
DLC duh
-
8 RepliesIt's empty like the entire D2 experience
-
Have no idea why hawthorne isnt there, for someone who hates guardians so much, she sure spends alot of time with them.
-
I was thinking the same. It's a total waste right now. Half the vendors should be there (maybe a third). Give it a reason to exist, it's a great social space, different from the past. My favorite planet by far is EDZ, and the farm / forest setting is beautiful. I'm assuming they will use the space for a Halloween / fall event, it's obviously perfect for it... but hoping for more.

1 ReplyThe farm is where you go after you realise how shit D2 is
-
2 RepliesThey removed farming from the game so they just put a farm in there for show. And why do you think it's called the farm?
Bungie thinks we are all animals
It was called Camp originally https://www.screencast.com/t/nxVIlvC8Vn
-
I think I know what the problem is bungie just completely just disregarded the fact that their content exists I honestly forgot the farm existed until k read this post
-
3 RepliesI’ve actually been thinking about this recently. Didn’t they say there were going to be wandering vendors that come and go from the Farm?
-
Father (aka Bungie): "Well Jimmy, you see, Destiny 2's endgame content got too old. So we sent it to "the farm" so that it could expand and flourish in wide-open plains absolutely chock-full of space chickens, soccer balls, and many happy guardians." Son (aka player base): "But Dad, when will we see this new, improved content?" Father/Bungie: ".............crickets chirping "
-
3 RepliesI agree with that statement. I also think the tower looks ugly and there's no soccer like the farm.
-
The what? I think I have been there once...
-
Edited by laredux: 10/15/2017 11:48:09 PMIt’s hilarious that they would spend time/money to create a social space like that, and have it be basically useless after a few hours of playtime. Just another example of how badly this game was managed and produced.

stop throwing that ass for Bungie until they deliver what we paid money for
