Seeing the massive lack of recovery gear for hunters, and the undeniably underpowered class ability they get, I think this would be a good start to fixing the class.
Health recovery initiating when you dodge rather than having to wait for your recovery cool down means that hunters can play a hit and run style more effectively and can spend more time fighting than hiding and waiting for health to come back. It also means we won't have to give up all of our stats just to achieve a meager 5-6 recovery max.
It would also be nice if dodge reloaded team mate weapons or melee based on the chosen perk, rather than just your own.

I think Hunters need a different class ability in the form of a support package drop like ability. -a pack of light that provides ammo -a pack of light that provides an armor buff/mobility buff It'd synergize with the other class abilities. The dodge could be implemented for every Guardian without the secondary effects (the reload and melee recharge passive can be given to Gunslinger/Arcstrider subclass passives).

No it shouldn't. If anything we should have the double dodge back. Warlocks have rifts. Titans have barriers. Hunters have a dodge but only one that doesn't give anything to creating distant between us and other guardians. We don't need a health recovery we need to create distants like it's suppose to.

Normally I would be against this like many of the people commenting in this thread, but I'm surprised by the large amount of up-votes it's getting. I guess the silent majority agree with op's suggestion.

Health recovery initiating when you dodge rather than having to wait for your recovery cool down means that hunters can play a hit and run style more effectively and can spend more time fighting than hiding and waiting for health to come back... So lets make hunters the ultimate lone wolf in a game where so many people are complaining about how hard it is to play lone wolf. Bungie is obviously trying to get rid of the this play style. I wouldn't get my hopes up, im sure they are well aware if they make hunters the lone wolf master race pvp will need to be changed to HvH.

1 ReplyAuto-filling health and ammo every 15 seconds? Come on dude... Why don’t we make it grant you an overshield, increased movement speed, and a damage buff as well while we’re at it?

And Mercedes should give infinite ammo?
-
Nah make an Exotic that does this.

It would be difficult you make the hunter class ability relevant in PvE without making it too strong in PvP. Your example sounds reasonable in PvE, but it would probably be too strong in PvP. The only real way to fix it for PvE is to make it a team benefit thing, which is sort of counterintuitive because it's a freaking dodge ability. How the hell does my individual evasive maneuver benefit my team outside of possibly preventing my death? My solution to fixing the underpowered hunter is more simple: BUFF MOBILITY. Have mobility grant a slight increase to sprint speed and a sizable increase to jump heights for each jump (not just the initial jump). Go back and load your hunter in D1. Put on triple jump and load patrol. Jump. It's breathtaking. Why can't high mobility allow us to jump like THAT.

You are stupid

Dodge is sweet for pvp

Hunters should be able to dodge repeatedly, however you won't get the reload/melee recharge unless it's full.
-
I agree. It should at least give you a third of your health back.

4 RepliesThat would be broken with the Invisibility perk on the Nightstalker.

1 ReplyThe fact of the matter is, people would start complaining about it and it would end up getting nerfed. I main a Hunter and I actually like the way it is. I do believe that a little more damage resistance while using it would be kind of cool.
-
3 RepliesDisagree. This would be the wrong way to go about buffing it. What if they had the marksmen's dodge reload all equipped weapons for free, and the gambler's dodge gave you back both grenade and melee charges. In return the cool down is ever so slightly longer than it currently is.

20 RepliesEvery single 12-year-old kid that plays Hunter thinks it’s under powered and wants to be overpowered. They don’t want it to be balanced. They don’t want a fair shake. They want to be overpowered and dominate the crucible like they did in Destiny. Thank God the people that are in charge know better.

Every 20 seconds?

1 ReplyNah. Fuсk hunters

1 ReplyAnd should be usable while in the air

Haha no.

Only if the dodge had a slower cooldown

26 RepliesEdited by DuBChiri2: 10/10/2017 12:40:58 AMThis would cause too many problem in PvP. Health regen on a 20 second cooldown would give an unfair advantage to the hunters. I'm not saying this as "oh hunters would be op" but health regen by doing nothing is a bit stupid. Warlocks have to eat their grenade charge or stand still in their rift to heal, giving the hunters a self heal roll would be also incredibly broken for their supers, especially since arc strider can infinitely roll. Think of something better.

7 RepliesSo basically whiny Hunters want a move that make them invincible PLUS gain health regen? You turds.

This would be dope. A lot of time I only even use the dodge to turn invis to evade death. The invis itself doesn't even last long enough for my recovery to trigger so it'd be a nice touch when in those dicey situations that I barely make it out of s: tbh hunters seem to be very underwhelming in pve so I think it would increase balance and uniqueness between classes
