So if you've every played to the end game as a hunter you've probably heard of Pahanin, the legendary hunter that ventured into the Vault of Glass with Kabr and Preadyth. He is referenced in a handful of items, mainly the Cloak of Dregen Yor, the artifact carrying his name, and a strange collection of cloaks with terrible squid and octopus pun names. However he is most know, at least to the exotic collectors, for creating SGA, because he was so frightened to go anywhere alone after witnessing Kabr's fall.
However it's possibly that he irrational obsession with these creatures is a result of his time in the VoG. We know he was changed by watching Kabr fall and Preadyth being sent throughout time, but it is possible that he was sent to the far past as well. The book of sorrows picks up with the Traveler protecting a race of cephalopods, and Pahanin being disoriented after being warped through time, may have seen the squid people and thought he was in the future, where either humanity has lost and the squids took over or the squids helped us win the many sided war we fight against the darkness.
He most likely only saw them in the first half of the war when they were totally defeating the hive. When Pahanin came back he decided to make his cloaks to honor the supposed saviors or survivors he witnessed fight the hive.
Or maybe its a coincidence.

1 ReplyWhether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right dick, we can punch through those defenses, take this bitch out and break her grip on
