Edit #obvious: clearly people can't read or don't want to. NEVER did I say you can't do it at 290 light. you still easily can my whole point here is saying that it makes sense and it's fair for 300 only groups to be a thing. 290 groups exist too, so you can spend your time there and work up the 300 groups. i cannot make this any clearer
***please note: to everyone calling me a d-Bag please note that the first day TTK came out i was the one with the huge post about HOW TO GET YOUR LIGHT UP past 290. I'm merely saying i think it's fair for there to be 300+ only groups. Would you want anyone in the NFL? No. Only top rated players. Are all top rated players amazing? No. It's all the luck of the draw :)
What people don't understand is the <300's trying to sneak in with the 300's are really the selfish ones. You need to grind it out and learn it with other 290's like the rest of us did. It's more fun. Who just wants to be carried all the time?
For the last two weeks I haven't cared and I've carried people, but when you spent 3 hours on death singers and 5 hours on oryx it just isn't fair.
I've done my time, same with the other 300's. We've learned the mechanics and it's only fair the >300's to play with each other to learn it.
Case and point I ran the entire raid twice in 2 hours 45 mins with all >300's. That's more like it.
Go ahead call me an elitist but I never had requirements the whole time in destiny, it's not the light I'm concerned with, it's the experience and the fact that it tells me that you've been able to successfully run the raid multiple times.
Edit: it's not the light! You can do it with lower light! It's the princIple. High light = multiple completions = smooth and fast run.
Benefits of high light however:
War priest in two rounds
Golgoroth in half the time
Death singers clean
Oryx in 3 bombs
Edit two: RNG doesn't equal skill. Chances are if you're 305 you've run it at least 3+ times. That's my point friends.
It seems like people are starting to understand what I'm saying and agreeing finally :) not trying to offend anyone and I look forward to playing with everybody

Won't even read this dumb post.
-
I say 295+ but 300 is preferred. I give it s few mins, and just invite as many 300+'s as possible. I did 3 runs all together taking less than 4 hours to do all 3. It's so much smoother and quicker.
-
People who complain about 300+ groups must exclusively use Lfg as groups of friends would happily take their 290+ buddy. Build your own raiding group and you won't have this problem. Plenty of clans to apply to.

2 RepliesTrue, but not everybody is like you. Some people, a lot of people, just want to be carried. Reminds me of the old days when people would post Ghorn required, and they didn't even have it.
-
3 RepliesDefinitely fair. Make your requirements whatever you want. If others don't like it they can make their own parties. For the record, I'm not against playing with lower light players, but if I were in a rush and didn't have friends on, I might want to play with more experienced players too; I get where you and those asking for 300+ are coming from.
-
3 RepliesWhat about the guy with loads of xp but have 2-3 characters and not all of them are over 300? My hunter is 304 geared up and my walock is only 295.. Should you condemn me to teaching on my warlock until I get all my gear up?
-
3 Replies290= inexperienced.
-
Sad this is why Bungie like to screw us over....every time I helped new people out I always got something I did not have from the raid
-
1 ReplyI don't post groups on lfg but when I'm looking for a group I always pick the ones that say experienced 300+. It's always a quick run bc everyone knows what to do.
-
my characters are all 300+ and i say theres not much a difference once you hit 290 the mechanics are easy if you explain them right
-
1 ReplyI agree completely i helped alot of groups with lower light levels but sometimes i get tired of keep explaining the same mechanics for 4 to 5 hours. I only ask for 300+ light when im just trying to run right thru it.
-
1 Reply"Like we did." I though this was my legend?
-
1 ReplyAt 295 my lmg hit oryx for 500ish, ar 302 it his him in the. 900s. Im a believer
-
1 ReplyI see what you're saying, but this only applies to randoms you're picking up from LFG sites and such. if you don't know them, I don't blame you for setting up a 300 requirement... it'll give you some comfort knowing they at least know the raid mechanics. I have tons of people on my friends list who are in the 290's right now who I'd rather run with any day; because they're all solid players and are awesome to raid with.
-
1 ReplyAlso it's much easier to get to 290 than 300+. The higher light you get, the more time not just additively but exponentially it takes to get there. Means a lot more time spent doing the raid, which means more experience. I see nothing wrong with people asking for 300+ light for LFG.

8 RepliesEdited by CooperPB: 10/1/2015 2:35:10 AMI took nothing you said serious, and I never will again, just because you put #obvious in front. You sound like a bloody feminist
-
2 RepliesThe problem is that people keep pretending that 300+ light players are better or more useful than 290s. The truth is, you can get to 300 by getting carried through the raid. Experience is all that matters (within a reasonable light level) and people who won't except <300s should rethink their criteria. Light level is almost never the issue when trying to complete this raid, it's team coordination and experience.
-
1 ReplyIt's not the light.. but you say it's the light. I'm confused!
-
Cleared oryx first try last night. So nice when people know what they are doing.
-
I see your point but it's possible that experience person has more than 1 character, I have finished raid 5 times but my titan is still 296. I can move around gears and make him 299 or even 300. Light level do show experience but on the other hand, you can be 300 with blue gears just saying ;)
-
6 RepliesI say let them. People who need all 300+ just to do the normal raid obviously don't have the skill to do it with any other levels in a Fireteam. I don't need that kind of person in my team if he thinks the raid can only be done with all 300+ light levels. I understand it's a nice convenience but light level won't matter if you can't pull your weight.
-
What about 298?
-
I did it at 292 with clan mates. They taught me the encounters, and allowed me to learn all the roles. After 2 raids, my lock is 302, and my Titan is 299. The raid is quite easy now that I know exactly what to do. With this experience, I feel confident running with a PuG. However I likely would not be content running it with a sub 300 player if they dont at least have the emblem. I dont mind if they are 290, since it might not be their main charater. But they would have to prove that they are experienced.
-
4 RepliesYes but that 3 hours on death singers, and how much ever on Oryx isnt neccesarily light, its team coordination. The first teams ranged anywhere from 290 to 297, a fee 298s. If you as a 300+ cant do it or take a long time with people in the mid 90s then its a team problem not a light problem.
-
Haven't even ran the raid yet, why? Because my light level isn't high enough and I'm not gonna beg and whine to others to carry me through the raid just so I can get some stuff I could get in a week or so anyway......some people don't like using logic and reason tho :P
