Chronicles of a Lost Guardian: Book 1 Chapter 2

As I sped by the citadel I noticed something. The Vex were not occupied with attacking me, like their normal routines, but were attacking each other. I shook this off, for maybe I was seeing things. It kept happening, no matter where I went. Soon the Ishtar sink was a battle between vex brethren. The fallen must have seen this, for they were retreating to their ketches in fear of this mysterious reaction in the vex system. I continued on until I found myself at campus nine. This was the scene of a mass vex massacre, yet I continued through. The sound of Zavala's voice started to play through my helmet. "Guardian, there is a high vex signature in the area. Get out of there now!" "There's something corrupting the vex Zavala, and I intend to find out" "What risk will you take to find out guardian?" "I guess we will find out" It was an opportunity I took gladly, but now that I look at it, I should have never taken it. I noticed a dead vex in the middle of the battlefield. Its eye still glowed, even though it looks to be long dead. I unsheathed my recently attained trophy and cut out its core. "Ghost can you analyze this?" "On it" A few seconds passed before his ill-fated response came. "This core, it's not connected to any vex networks" "That's not possible, all vex are connected to the vex network" "Not this one, there may be more up ahead. I'll need more samples to verify it." I moved ahead and continued to find them, littered all over the place. A huge battle must have happened there. A few minutes passed with each sample. Each sample yielded the same results. Now it seems those shock daggers were a worthy trophy, because they sure did come in handy. Now it seems those shock daggers were a worthy trophy, because they sure did come in handy. I continued to move through campus nine until I came upon vex gates. The Vex were lining the gates, lying dormant but active. “Guardian, get me close enough to a gate. I want to analyze them.” “Got it” “The Vex gates are linked to mercury. We can hitch a ride and find whatever is behind the gates if we make it to the gate lord’s gate up ahead.”, “Also, just so you know, those gates are linked to a trigger. One hit and these vex will turn into a firing squad.” “Well, isn’t that pleasant.” I continued through the path towards the massive gate. Each pace grew eerier and eerier. I stood in front of the biggest gate I have ever seen. It was guarded by a huge amount of Vex constructs, almost tenfold compared to the smaller gates. A dead gate lord with no head lays in the center of the gate. “Guardian, this is Zavala. Whatever is behind that gate must be destroyed immediately.” “Got it.” I then stepped through the gate. What faced me on the other side of that gate continues to send shock waves through my brain to this day, whatever day it is in this god forsaken place. “Guardian, what did you find behind the portal”. I stood in silence for a few seconds until Zavala yelled into my ear. “Guardian!” “It’s….it’s Osiris.” Osiris opened his mouth to speak. “Welcome to my realm, Hunter.”
