Carnage Hosting 101

This thread contains tips for the eyes of our new hosts and all who are interested in starting a community game night. If you want to host some Carnage, reveal the spoilers! Remember, anyone can host a game night in this group! Check out our schedule to reserve a playdate. Creating the thread:
1. Check the calendar. Make sure you are not butting heads with Carnage game nights already scheduled. Please don't make an "official" public Carnage game night without letting anybody else know beforehand. The leaders here want to be able to support it properly. 2. Try to make the sign-up thread a day or two before a game night. This allows enough time for awareness, but not too much time where people forget we're playing. 3. Create a public thread via The Community Carnage forum. Apply the tags #carnage, #communitycarnage and #SeventhColumn to ALL Carnage game nights. For unofficial Destiny game nights, post in the #Recruitment forum. For official Community Carnage Destiny game nights, post in #Community. For game nights unrelated to Destiny, post in the #Gaming forum. 3. View this thread to see an example of our bungie.next Carnage thread formatting. Feel free to copy/paste it for your game night. 4. OPTIONAL: Consider finding somebody to live stream the Carnage.
Finding players:
1. Carnage game nights are first come, first serve. On the web version of bungie.net, you can sort threads by "Oldest First" to ascertain who signed up first. 2. For multi-platform game nights, allow 1 lobby per platform. Consider building lobbies AS NEEDED if there is overflow of interested players. 3. Keep the thread updated with a roster. You can "Like" the posts of those confirmed to be playing.
During the game night:
1. Post any and all live streams in the thread and Carnage group wall! Those who can't participate enjoy jumping in via Twitch. 2. Reply to your topic as much as possible, including when lobbies are full or when you need more players. People get confused when hosts and Carnage facilitators are MIA. 3. Above all, relax, game, and don't be a dick. Shoot the shit and have fun playing with each other. We're here to have fun and this should always be a stress-free platform to make friends and play games. If someone is acting out, remember our in-game rules.
• Hey guys, is anybody able to help me open some ports so I can host Halo CE on Bungie day? Last time Atom95 had to host because of it, and we had to compromise on some gametypes. Thanks

Relevant (Note that it is a kitten giving you a high five. I saw it on today's kitten search and decided it must be used)

[1/21/17] To all hosts and future hosts of these community game nights. Be advised. This is the official word from Carnage admins about Carnage game night placement and we (group admins) may ask you to move your post if it is improperly tagged. (If a Bungie.net forum moderator outside of the Carnage group moves your post, and not us, please be sure to private message them for clarification - group admins here cannot speak on any other moderator's actions or behalf.)
What goes in #Community? -Discussion around Destiny Community Content, epic moments (MOTW) - Publicly hosted/Community Contests/Gamenights - Fan fictions (Bungie game specific) - Discussion on Bungie LLC and/or specific employees, and DeeJ's lovely beard - A place for community gaming events and festivities (PAX, Gamescom, E3, Bungie Day and the like)
Formal scheduled Destiny game nights: community game nights or old school Bungie game nights are fine to go in #Community, a forum where Carnages have traditionally been successful on Bungie.new and Bungie.old Impromptu carnage game nights for Destiny: the type where you didn't inform any admins or group members beforehand may be less formal, and more quickly thrown together, intended for immediate play/invs. #Recruitment is good for those Non-Bungie created games, formal and impromptu: Community Carnage game nights unrelated to Destiny have always gone in #Gaming. This is an appropriate forum for new school and old school Halo game nights, too Finally, if you can't find any players, don't get discouraged. Try again. There are players in this group who have been organizing these game nights since 2008. Sometimes due to a number of factors, nobody signs up or nobody shows up. Remember (a) time of day relative to other timezones, (b) how much you've advertised the thread link on the Carnage group wall, (c) to remind other players about the game night via PM on the day-of, and (d) a positive attitude and graciousness in the face of getting new members and old of bungie.net to come hang out with you. Play nice. Not every game night will bring 30 players. Just remember to have fun, enjoy some videogames and make friends in the Bungie community. [8/10/15] Edited the OP slightly to reflect a common misconception that members have to be "official" or "badged" to host a game night. Anyone in the Community Carnage can volunteer to invite the community to play games, provided you sign up via the Carnage schedule thread and respect our Conduct of Carnage.
