Listen. I get on these forums just about everyday and sift through the information. Now I say sift because there's a large amount of complaining that takes place every single day.
"But there's so much WRONG with this game."
No. There's really not. There's the CE glitches. The heavy ammo loss. Also the remnants of glitches still plaguing the VoG. But those are all things that can be fixed. The problem I'm seeing on these forums is that people have expected WAY to much out of this company and title. This is not the bungie of old folks. This is also a style of game that has never really been attempted (with success) on consoles. Let alone on consoles new to the market.
"Even without the glitches this game is BORING"
This ladies and gentlemen is probably my biggest pet peeve on these forums. When you bought this game what were you expecting. Have you ever played an mmo rpg? No? If you had then you'd know that boring should be in the title of each and every one. They're grindy. They take a lot of time and effort for sometimes little to no pay off. That's the beauty of it. This isn't call of duty where you unlock your weapons at certain levels and then woosh, away you go killing things. There is a level of patience and commitment that I think many gamers simply don't have. This brings me to my next point.
"Xurs inventory is so terrible AGAIN!!! Where's me heavy ammo synth?! Where's my gjallahorn?!"
This one probably takes the cake for the most obnoxious and misplaced hatred. No xur did not bring your coveted launcher. He did not bring you heavy ammo synths. He may not have brought you anything useful. But he will be back again next weekend. Something I don't recall seeing in similar games. Bungie decided to HELP the large majority of this community who don't have time to find those exotics to boost their light level. Even if you don't "need" items he's selling you should buy some anyways. It's always a lot more interesting when you switch up your classes and use different abilities and weapons to freshen your play style. Do I need the sun breakers? No. But I'll sure use them and enjoy a new way to play my warlock. Same with my hunter and titan.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that the people who openly complain day in and day out need to just stop. If you're so unhappy with the game then leave. There's no reason for all the complaining. If anything its a waste of energy for all parties involved. This game is not perfect but it is what it is. And that is an infant mmo rpg on a console in its infancy (I play on ps4 respectively). It's gonna take time. A lot of time to get right.
Edit 1: Thanks to all the people who contributed to this! Lots of good points being made for both sides.
Edit 2: +1

Thank you, someone sane on the forums. I think the only reason people come on here anymore is to complain about not getting something
-
People act like this is the first game they have ever bought that didn't live up to its expectations . Damn shut the Fxck up kids.
-
I think the ones who complain alot are the ones who wait for reset and then do everything in one sitting. Spread it out guardians. I was getting discouraged too for a minute but I think it was more from all the negativity I was reading on the forums that put me off rather than the game itself. If your bored help noobs complete VOG or CE. We gotta lift each other up guys and gals.
-
I've often wondered if some of the Crota "glitches" could be tied to an unknown mechanic.
-
Everyone should experience disgaea before playing this game, specifically lvling weapons.

1 Reply3 nightfalls and weeklys a week and raid reset... Same things every week and will be the same after the next dlc.. Same old strikes,, this game is great but this isn't bungie.. Lol I never liked halo but really...... I'm sure they could of done a lot of things... I don't know if it was up to Activision, but I'm sure it could of been better..
-
Dang this game is an insult to mmo and RPG
-
Probably the most intelligent post I have read on this forum to date. Well said guardian.
-
Solid points. I'd love to see people simmer down and just enjoy the game play. So what if you don't have G-Horn. Do you have a weapon set up you enjoy? If so, rock that and hopefully you get the exotic of your dreams while you play grind some content.
-
2 RepliesI have an idea! If we stop finding cheeses then maybe we will finally get the patches we need!
-
There Is plenty wrong with destiny. Most of it being design choices. But even then those could be over looked if we just had more content. I like destiny. And I realize they are not going to change the fundamentals of the game (if at all) till the next destiny game. But I have no desire to play destiny at the moment. There are a few things I can still do. But I'm just bored with it. Unless my friends decide to come back for raiding I won't be on much other then for Fridays until the next content drop. TLDR: destiny has solid game play. But nothing to keep people playing in between content drops. Destiny has design flaws ad glitches. So complaints are valid.
-
Well said. What makes me laugh is would they say a board game say monopoly or even chess for that matter are boring ? After all that's just repeating the same content over and over. I know most will say board games are boring it's just an example. however this just strikes me as part of the current generations self entitled attitude, thanks mtv and you tube for making everyone have the attention spans of goldfish.

1 ReplyFor the most part i agree with what youve said. The only problem is that Xür used to always have heavy ammo synth for sale. With out a word it was pretty much removed or adjusted to the point of not being sold with up an update to the community. I'm not saying it's necessary but it would of been a good heads up. Something reliable all of a sudden stopped. Reliability is something that Destiny lacks and to be taken away from some of the last reliable items just hurts it more. Yes I know there is still two other options to buying the heavy ammo but neither of them make sense to purchase given the price and time put in to obtain them. For Eris it's all luck. Black Wax idols I can't find anywhere for the life of me. It's not like I'm using them for shard exchange either as I hardly do the Raid. The fact it csn take anywhere between 1 hour-7 hours to obtain this items to get some heavy ammo is not good. It's mostly a mental thing. Most people would prefer a guaranteed item rather then to farm for the potential. The Gunsmith is the most expensive one of them all. Most times it require items hard to find such as Eris. It also takes way to long to obtain the glimmer needed at higher levels and still only have a 25k cap. If you don't use consumables do you know how much glimmer you get? 0. So you have to invest items you could use on other stuff to specifically even earn money. These buffs don't even make you gain a lot of glimmer You get like 7 glimmer for each kill. When you need almost 1k glimmer to purchase the heavy ammo... It just doesn't make any sense to adjust the one thing that was pretty reliable with out a warning or a heads up or even a new way to obtain items still needed.

9 RepliesThe reason why we complain is to insure the next destiny game comes out with everything we ask for a good story,no points ass missions, a true destiny experience
-
7 RepliesSee you say theres not alot and you listed stuff and say it can ben fixed.... issue is that bungie shows no effort in fixing them.. when they tried fixi g vog they just broke it more...and the bigger issue from this game is server stability and pvp is just a joke with the laggers. .. and pve most of the issues spawn from lag . So isntead of wasting time on weapon balance and forcing them down people . They should worry more about making a better online experience and fixing real issues
-
The reason we call it bad is because we love it, we want it to change and get better, it is bad at the moment and we know it will change
-
I agree with you but you can't compare destiny with other MMOs. At least until destiny 2 or the dlc is done dropping. Even when wow was primitive it still had a lot of weapons and armors to have
-
1 ReplyEdited by Mossy: 2/10/2015 5:29:44 PMThese thoughts go through my head every time I open up the forums. Well said.

My biggest issue with Xur is the blatant lack of rotation in his items for strange coins. I've been playing since launch. So I don't expect him to have something that I don't already have every week. In fact, he'd be hard pressed to bring something that I could use just because, I've already got most everything that he sells. But for a vendor that is supposed to be random, he sure does fixate on just a handful of items. That's a bit ridiculous. Bungie needs to do a little work on his RNG to give him more variety. Perhaps that's not what MMO players expect but that's what this fanbase would prefer. If Bungie is going to do what hasn't been done before and make this type of game a success then they are going to have to make some adjustments. Xur only comes around once a week. His visit doesn't have to always bring you what you want but he should at least bring you something other than the exact same inventory that he brought the week before. Shake it up a little.

All I'm saying is I totally agree with the op.

These are all things that can be fixed
Ok, you know what? Let me sell you a completely broken toaster. And every 3 months, for a price of 20 bucks, I will repair it just a little bit. I mean your toasts all turn out black and burned, but hey, you can use the toaster so where is your problem? After your logic you would buy such a toaster. I wonder what is going on in your mind.
-
1 ReplyI just want them to fix the bugs. Heavy ammo armor bug is annoying, but the raid bugs make them unnecessarily difficult. It's frustrating.

1 ReplyStop whining and play something else

12 RepliesLoosing heavy ammo when you go through cutscenes, when you wipe.. For months now, and we can't complain about not fixing this and not selling synths? Come on, man.
