XUR takes the excitement away...
Quotes from DEEJ (Skip to minute 8:45)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQKp0VcA1Vw
"We want you to earn the things that you have".
"I won that, by killing that strike on Mars, the hardest difficulty setting, that is mine, it defines me"
"We don't want anyone to ever say, Where you get that? Angry Joe gave it to me". In this case XUR gave it me.
Just my two cents...maybe make some changes in the future to balance and make players feel unique and have a more sense of accomplishment.
IS XUR RUINING DESTINY AND CHANGING HIS CONTRACT TO A 2 YEAR PLAN?
Here is post from a member below that I believe sums up what I was trying to get across in the late late hours of the night:
Admit it whether or not we've purchased gear from XUR, being one of the select few running around with a weapon, item, etc feels pretty cool. Being unique is desirable and exciting. Xur diminishes that greatly. He makes something that's highly desirable extremely attainable. Is it still so desirable once it's so attainable?
You can't deny there is a special sense of pride in the weapons that you got to drop vice having purchased from xur.
Let's clear something up as well the word "earned" is being tossed around a lot and some people are having some real issues. While technically in an RNG based loot system nothing (aside from the fact raid exclusives and bounties) is truly earned, the gamers who've put in excess 500 plus hours have a sense of earning when they finally get that weapon to drop. More time played equals higher probability of reward, of course it doesn't always translate due to the RNG. But they've given themselves better position to get those exotics.
Something needs to change moving forward, for a die hard destiny fan to grind and grind and finally get something to drop, only to see xur sell it to someone who just picked up the game for 13-17 strange coins can almost feel like an insult....make more exclusive exotics or a bigger list of exotic bounties for a wide aray of weapons. Help the people who play countless hours distinguish themselves and their gear from someone who is passing through.

3 RepliesI'm seriously getting tired of these "I earnt it" self absorbed posts. You can quote DeeJ all you want, it isn't going to change anything. And regardless of how you feel entitled to Lord what you got from a rng drop doesn't change the fact that your elitest type is the only kind that play this game. Casuals also play this game and are entitled to have fun with whatever exotic armour/weapon they can get by whatever means, drop or xur. And let me clear one thing up, I have 500+ hours on this game. I only have 3 more exotics needed to own all exotic weapons in this game right at this point of time. I have a 32 that I worked my butt off to get drops across 3 characters to get there. And I also know others put in the same amount of time, to not get that final piece of gear needed to get light lvl 32. Do I care some got all pieces in 2 runs? No. Do I care if some chose to cheese/play as intended? No. Do I care that I got my IB in first week of me being 20+ and xur sold it last week? No Do I care if xur sells any weap or armour? No The reason I don't care is because this is a game and regardless of all the whining on this forum people will play a game how they want. Because put simply, ITS A DAMN GAME!!! If you all put a little more energy into actually playing the game and enjoying it for what it is, rather than this holier than thou crap maybe you'd be happier about it. I'm all for constructive criticisms about this game, on additions of content that benefits all. But not when you try and make others suffer for your single mindedness, and push your ideas across the whole player base which ultimately takes something good and fun away from them. For all tldr peeps, summary: You don't talk for me or the countless hundreds of thousands who feel the same, so stfu.

Another butt hurt post cuz you don't feel special anymore your a pussy it's a video game some people have lives and can't play 500 hours to get all the guns or have nerd friends who play the game all day to do raids suck a dick
-
2 RepliesPeople working for coins are doing a he'll of a lot more than people just playing and praying. My friend danced the whole time in crucible, coming in last all the time and he got ghorn, legendary ship, and a couple legendary engrams
-
Truthfully I think Xur should instead sell bounties for each piece of weapon and armor. I also think that you should only be able to buy one once a week
-
I noticed this when the game dropped and was waiting for someone to say something.
-
That's true too, but I mean come the f*ck on. Not many things are "earned" in this game. I've been playing since launch with no hawkmoon, my friend started playing almsot a week ago and he found it in a ROC. Is that really a great story? F*ck no.

1 ReplyRNG runs the game. You never earn anything.
-
I killed a strike on mars once.
-
1 ReplyIm perfectly ok with people getting Ghorn. It sucks to be the only the person to rely on to bring down Crota's shield fast.
-
Id love if every weapon had a unique bounty, but could also be RNG. There could also be bounty only exotics like we have now.
-
I do have to agree although I like xur, if they plan on being rng have it all rng. Make xur sell engrams only and have a cap of how many you can buy.
-
If you make everything rarer so that people will feel more unique, in response activities will be more difficult as people will have worse weapons. The problem is some people have managed to aqcuire all or near all the weapons, while others seemingly have nothing from doing similar amounts of 'work' Xur is a counterbalance to rng.

Those tokens can sometimes be harder to get than the nightfall. I blew through this weeks nightfall in a few minutes mostly solo ( I invite people at the boss for insurance) and I had a lot harder time on the heroic because the lack of weapon type advantage.

2 RepliesDeeJ is not some bot!?!?!?
-
I'm pretty xur(get it)that DeeJ was talking about trading and not Xur. Also stop spamming this all over the forums, his opinion isnt better than yours or mine.

2 RepliesI can understand why some players who grind their way through the game for hours to get nothing are irritated to see a newbie get an exotic that is highly sought after. But, the argument swings both ways for everyone - no point in arguing otherwise. My son, who has never run a raid, not paid for the expansion, run very few strikes, doesn't even understand the gameplay properly and is forever asking about the game lucked out got a Gjallarhorn a few days ago. Does that seem fair to say he earned it? Like I said, that "fairness" argument swings both ways. I don't know how many hours I've played for - probably too long if you ask my other half - but in that time (in the hundreds easily) I've rng'd one exotic and not many legendaries. However, I've paid the asking price for each exotic or legendary item and had to obtain the coins/marks necessary to buy them. Did I earn the coins? How else did I get them? Earned through paying the game. Now, quite frankly, only Bungie have the right to say who deserves what. Everyone else's opinion is worthless. I do not understand why people are so upset about why someone else has the same weapon as them. So what? Seriously, so what? If you justify your value compared to everyone else in this world by what you have in a video game, you clearly need to carry out a major reality check in your life. I got expect this to upset a few people, generate some rude comments back at me. It won't stop my comments being true.

Not going to get into the earn debate here but I will say I don't agree with you. What I think DeeJ was referring to there about angry Joe wasn't a vendor but rather another player. Basically he's saying they're not down with trading.
-
I'm fairly confident that Xur was a quick solution when they drastically changed the game after joe staten left.
-
Don't need a ghorn just got hunger of crota this morning for being sword carrier woot and raid helm the morning before been good RNG week.
-
I agree. Exotics don't feel exotic
-
Xur is just a part of Desintys terrible loot system. The best loot in the game is not earned, it is randomly found over time.
-
Exactly
-
Bump.
-
Xur could only be removed if the loot system changed to where people could actually have a means to work towards high level gear Example: certain loot was only dropped by doing certain, high level, hard to complete events Vex is a perfect example BUT! Because of a severe lack of content or any real difficult/hard/long events the weekly reset was put into place to limit your chances and extend your play time, so it's very frustrating to those trying to grind for certain gear and have bad RNG luck.
