That is not true. The bible is a collection of history, myth, poems, proverbs, prophecies, teachings, letters, revelations. It spans across 66 books, written across over 3000 years. The Old Testament was complied first in the first century. The Holy Bible itself was officially compiled in the fourth century. Many of course have their opinions of the inspiration of it all. For the faithful, myself included, it is an amazing record of God's dealings with humankind throughout the ages. It shows God's love and majesty, through out it's pages. If there are mistakes or short fallings, let us remember that men are not perfect. God Bless.

  • What if the bible was one of Satan's tricks? What if he posed as god and inspired those men throughout the centuries. This would be how he could get man to worship him without man even knowing.

  • ... Then Satan wouldn't exist... He is a part of abrahamic religious mythos... No other religious grouping has Satan/Lucifer/the Devil/Adversary. You point is ... pointless. Anyways, Satan would not get people to do good things, if he did he would be helping God. He has made it is agenda to hinder God's ways and children, trying usurp God.

How would satan not exist? Him posing as god would be a perfect example of him making people worship him without their knowledge, therefore damning all the people who worship him to hell. That's the ultimate trick he could play to make people sin. If I can think of this then surely a deity can as well. It's not pointless at all, you're just not thinking critically. Funny how the original work of god (Old Testament) is no longer really followed. Not to mention that many views of the Old Testament are now considered to be "satanic" you know like blood sacrifice. Why would the original word of god not be followed anymore? From my understanding god can't Interact with us because this life is supposed to be a test of our faith to him. So after the Old Testament why would the word of god be changed? For instance: a part of god came down to earth in the form of Jesus. If god can take that form, out of everything he could take form in, why would he take the form of a burning bush to Moses? Obviously we view fire as something associated with satan. So out of everything god appears as a burning bush? Like I said before, god can't interact with us but satan can. Satan is there to make us sin. So if god can't interact with us (after the Old Testament assuming) why would he interact with is to help us create the bible? The views that are in the bible are viewed as good because that is what we are told. If we were told that murder and torture were good then that's what we would believe. That's why we used to do blood sacrifice and it was considered a holy thing to do. Think about your religion instead of blindly following it.

  • I do not blindly follow my faith, I faithfully work at it. I study the scriptures daily and pray to God. I study history and science and I reconcile it all, with faith. I don't need to choose between two truths but allow God to show how these truths fit together. There are mistakes in the scriptures no doubt, but they are the mistakes of men. Your bashing of people's faith will only lead to contention and hate. You push them further into possible errors if you continue down this path. If you need to, discuss with meekness and kindness, allowing for differences of opinion. Whether we like it or not, two people can and will something and come to two different conclusions and opinions. Please be nice out there, spread love and respect. God Bless.

  • It's not likely though... I don't even really believe in the devil honestly, it doesn't matter to my personal faith whether he exists or not. People would still make mistakes and do evil things. I also don't believe the earth is 6000 years old, science doesn't allow for it. If you want a good argument, ask someone why God would create a world that shows signs of being billions of years old.

  • You believe in the bibles teachings yet don't think the devil exist? That's as retarded as someone I used to know saying they didn't believe in god but they believed in the devil. But here is something to think about: Christians believe the earth is 6 thousand years old. Science says that the earth is around 5 billion years old. These two ideal obviously contradict each other. However who is to say that a day to us is the same amount of time as a day to god? If god sees everything past, present, and future as one then surely his timing if he even has one would be drastically different to our. Whatever that timing difference is could explain a 5 billion year old planet. 6000 year old earth is generally considered to be truth by Christians because of the whole god created everything in 7 days. Who is to say that 1 day to god is billions of years to us?

  • Again, you would benefit from a little learning about Jewish beliefs and ancient Jewish cosmology. They were limited in their understanding so I would not put their mythos above current day science. It is a false dichotomy.

  • 5. The things are considered good in the bible because they have been tried through out history and proven to lead to righteousness. That is why it still exists because God leads people to reconciliation through it's teachings.

Site your sources, otherwise you're spewing you own filthy propaganda.

  • If you follow the teachings of the bible and put your faith in Christ it will lead to a righteous life. If you take the bible and try to justify yourself in it then evil will come. That is where problems occur. People are trying to justify themselves before God using scriptures.

  • 4. Who told you Satan can interact with us and God can't? That is not true, the only times Satan is even mentioned in action is Job, where he only acts because God allows it. In the gospel of Matthew when Satan tempts Jesus, and in revelations. God interacts with his children hundreds of times though out the scriptures. Often he is recorded talking with them. Giving them power to do certain things. Whispering to them comfort and peace. He influence is across the whole earth, causing great and righteous works to had. If these feelings are ignored then bad things happen.

  • As a kid growing up my family was religious and I was taught that we can feel god, but he can't have any interaction with our day to day life because this life is a test of our faith to him. I was also taught that satan try's to tempt man into sinning every single day. Thus the conclusion of god not being able to interact with man and satan can.

  • I am sorry if your parents had a simple understanding of the bible. You can't let this hate consume you though. There is good in the bible whether you would recognize it or not.

  •
There is good in the bible whether you would recognize it or not.
I have absolutely 0 hatred towards the bible. However saying there is good in the bible is the exactly what I've been telling you this entire time. It's completely subjective to whomever is reading it. Therefore it can not be considered good by everyone.

  • Of course, I already stated that two people can and will come to different conclusions. I believe God's spirit is universal, through out all religions (mostly). He is doing what he can to lead his children back. Everyone, has what our faith calls the light of Christ (basically a conscience), in the end everyone knows right from wrong.

  • 3. Your view of Satan is obscured by pagan influences. Fire has no connection with Satan. Fire is God's just like water and air. It is said that having the spirit of God is like being baptized in fire. Again, there is no devil or Satan in ancient Jewish tradition, so there is no connection between the burning bush and the devil. That was the spirit of God upon the bush.

  •
3. Your view of Satan is obscured by pagan influences. Fire has no connection with Satan.
Huh I guess the bible never said that sinners would burn in a lake of fire and brimstone. Nope it never said that. The association that everyone has with satan and fire is completely wrong.

  • Hell was created by God to hold the devil and his angels (according to some). Still God's creation. Anyways, I don't believe in hell. It does not exist in Jewish thought until after their exile.

  • No, I don't personally care if the devil is real or not. That is where I am. It is not my place to testify of the truthfulness of the devil but of Christ. I believe after death, we go to paradise or prison, according to our faith in Christ. After that we are judged and those who then still deny Christ will go to "outer darkness"

  • 2. I have no idea why the Jews no longer follow the laws of moses, though I think it may have some thing to do with the destruction of the temple. They still follow the dietary laws though. As a christian, we are no longer called to follow the laws of moses, because they are completed in the sacrifice of Jesus. Our new covenant is to follow the commandments and teachings of Christ.

  • It's never seemed a bit strange that the views on god changed almost completely because someone else came along and said so? Why would the original words of GOD change? Is it so far fetched to think that in Satan's ultimate trick to make humans sin, is that he was Jesus and in becoming Jesus, he successfully changed the worlds opinion on the original words of god?
