The reason you lose ammo is so you will think more carefully about your loadout before you begin an activity. You're not being punished for nothing, you're being punished for showing up unprepared.

  • Honestly I totally disagree. There is nothing unreasonable or short sighted about changing weapons during a fire fight which often includes multiple damage weaknesses aside from whatever elemental damage is high lighted(ie arc in this weeks nightfall). This is clearly a choice to create a punitive system the naturally doesn't exist. The only argument that I could honestly concede is the idea that special and heavy ammo is legitimately tied directly to each given special/ heavy weapon. And therefore once you switch to another weapon u loose X number of rounds simply because the 20 rounds u have on ur other fusion rifle are definitively rounds for your OTHER fusion rifle and therefore don't transfer over to your newly selected weapon. The problem is, if this is the case and I do consider it fair even cool if in fact it was, then upon selecting the previously mentioned weapon with 20 rounds again it should still have those 20 rounds right?! Obviously this is not the case. Switching back merely repeats the process so now you're screwed twice. Nah, thats not fair.

  • Don't get me wrong, I don't like it either. It's especially annoying for this week's nightfall as all 3 shield types are present, and many people may not have an elemental primary to pick up the slack. I however, made due with Vision of Confluence to deal with Shanks, Prudence III to deal big damage to Captains/everything, and Corrective Measure to handle Minotaurs. With the combined firepower of my team and many ammo synths, we made it through. Since the topic has been discussed by DeeJ or some other Bungie Dev, and their response was similar, albeit more detailed than my own, they clearly intended for this to happen and have no intention of changing it. Again, so you plan ahead before jumping into an activity. I feel that this also places more responsibility on you and your fireteam to create loadouts that will complement the other teammates' and fill in the gaps where necessary. Being that the end-game content relies heavily on communication and teamwork, I think it's a effective way to get everyone working together. When running solo with the Juggler mod, it's a real b!tch...

  • But what I kind of find funny is that in the beta, you would not loose ammo when swapping between the same weapons type, (ie sniper to sniper, or from one shotgun to anoter) but I would hope they changed that one aspect of it, so that you would loose if you changed from a shotty to a sniper but not to the same weapon type :)
