I agree, this type of game and community is new to Bungie. That's why I'm more than happy being patient while they work out the kinks for the long haul. With every valid complaint, every update, every week that goes by, Bungie is learning just how to strike that perfect balance.

I hope you're right, but I've not seen evidence of them learning anything yet. The tone deaf manner in which the soft DLC was announced leads me to shake my head and wonder if they really know what they've got on their hands here.

Edited by Cellspot: 10/30/2014 4:06:45 PMI'm sure it's overwhelming. Many companies have fallen at the feet of Blizzard trying to emulate their success. But to say no improvements have been made or that Bungie is ignoring the community is just flat out wrong. One need only to look at all the patch notes since release to recognize this. Bungie would likely benefit from adding more personnel to more quickly fix bugs and implement improvements, but I think they are limited somewhat by budget and lack of monthly fees. Edit: I guess I need some clarity on the tone deaf DLC comments. In terms of the DLC being "soft", it's also just $20. There have been other threads with CoD DLC comparisons and what you are getting for $20 in Destiny is on par with or superior value than that of CoD DLC. There's no WoW comparison really, because they don't do the DLC thing, you are already paying $10 or 15 monthly and expansions are basically full games and full price.

Budget? It's the most quickly adopted new franchise of all time! The opening sales were through the roof. They don't have budgetary constraints holding them back from hiring new staff. They're making a mint. Also, I haven't said they are ignoring the community. The whole post is saying that they are engaging the community with the same voice as they would engage a Halo game, and when making something different, one's voice, approach, and support strategy need to be retooled.

Edited by Cellspot: 10/30/2014 4:20:46 PMThe cost of maintenance for Destiny is significantly more than the cost of maintenance for Halo games. Not only in infrastructure, but also the creative teams. You didn't specifically say "They are ignoring us", but when you speak of Bungie's "tone deaf" nature, isn't it basically the same thing? Edit: I think the real issue is they are having to cater to two different player bases who speak different languages.

No. Ignoring would imply that they are not creating new content, implementing fixes, and doing all they they do. I see that they are working, and I see their timeline for addressing problems/creating new content, but what I don’t see is an accurate appraisal of the community that has risen around the game they’ve created — a community that they sought to foster. They chose to make a game that blended elements of various models, and clearly, this effort has been rewarded. Now, transitioning into moving forward, they need to strike a tone that matches the blended game they’ve made. They need to support that community more efficiently and accurately than they are currently doing. They need content that isn’t piecemeal.

Edited by Cellspot: 10/30/2014 4:23:36 PMAfter spending way too much time on this forum, I think the vast majority of current voices on the forum should be ignored. It'll get better when those that simply don't like this game but continue to voice their complaints move on.
