3 RepliesTo each, his/her own; which is a lesson that a lot of people could really stand to learn a bit on here. Your opinion is your own, but saying that your post is not bait, is a baldfaced lie. Personally, I've looked at it, thought about it, and passed on it. I do not like the idea of being micro-transactioned to death - especially by a company that has no extended history of being able to deliver. You even need to go as far as insuring your ship, which screams "money grab". Basically, it amounts to extortion - "Pay us for a month of insurance, or we cannot promise that your ship won't have to pay for some expensive repairs." It is a little extreme, for what basically is just a combination space simulator/shooter. Of particular concern is the sheer amount of "Careers" still available with the company. I did just go back and look at their site again, for the first time in probably three or four months. They are still looking for a dozen developers - not to mention the other positions that they have available. With that many open positions, I would be very surprised if they release in 2015, which is the ambiguous date that they are posting. It is not even just the number of developers they are looking for, it is the fact that there is a sustained onboarding period required to get any developer up to speed with the engine and tooling, and it takes months to get that developer up to 100% efficiency. That is a fact, based on experience. You will not get a gaming PC from selling your PS4 and games. Can you get a computer? Sure you can. You will be running the game at its lowest settings, assuming you meet the requirements in the first place, at that price point. Console gaming has a lower entry point, in the market, because it is affordable, compared to a power rig, plain and simple. Personally, I would not be happy for any off-the-shelf rig. Of the three machines I've built in the last year, two of the three of them would chew this game up, like it was no one's business. One of them should meet the requirements, and have a "decent" experience, I would imagine. Assuming that you can get 2/3 of your investment back, I hope that you have three PS4s to sell to cover that. Realistically, if you are going to build a proper machine, you will want it over-spec'd, unless you plan on having to sink even more into it, over time, by continuously upgrading. Some people go that route, and the machine costs more over a period of a few years, than it would have to build it right the first time. Jumping in and building something just for what is available on today's market is a foolhardy investment, as the requirements for PC games evolves much more quickly than what can be expected over the lifespan of a console, which has set hardware requirements. Ultimately, the choice is yours. You are, though, comparing two completely unrelated genre of games in your evaluation. However, the death of console gaming is not coming any time soon. Every generation has been predicted to be the "last generation of consoles" for decades now, since the end of the Atari 2600. But, it comes down to simple economics. Console gaming is now a multi-billion dollar industry, and all indications are that it is getting stronger, still. It boils down to the fact that the largest portion of the target demographic simply cannot afford to be a PC gamer. If a parent is given a choice for a gaming platform for a child, they are likely going to gravitate towards a console, and not a PC. The "home PC", for most people, is simply not a good choice for gaming.

INb4Starcitizen is destiny 2.0, just full of lies and false hopes, tsk tsk.

1 Reply>sells 400$ console >expects to buy "good" PC and play star citizen. lel

Dude have fun! Those specs are gnarly for the game to even look good. It's an amazing game with an amazing cost in hardware to make it look as good as the video you have posted.

1 ReplyEdited by Joels: 10/22/2014 10:17:22 PMstar citizen the scam project thats been milking millions out of pc geeks, so stupid. anyone that pays 200dollars for an ingame item is a total retard.

2 RepliesIts not even the same genre
-
I think if destiny added a dogfight element to the game then that would be pretty nifty; think of star fox 64 but in the reef. It would give our ships something else aside from aesthetic value.
-
2 RepliesStar what? Star who? ...yeah thought so.. no one cares
-
2 RepliesWhile star citizen will most likely be amazing (I already have 5 ships) it will be a few years at a minimum before it will be even as playable as Destiny already is.
-
Star Citizen isn't even remotely a real game yet.. It's just a massive heap of random ideas and concepts that are being thrown together and slowly "worked on." All games start like this, and then end up being a fraction of their original plan. Don't get me wrong -- I'm still looking forward to it, but you can't compare two completely different things, at different stages of development.. :x

1 ReplyIts going to be a great game, but why do you feel the need to rip on another game that others enjoy, but as it stands even destiny has more content than start citizen atm.
-
1 ReplyDo you understand the money you're going to get from the PS4 to buy a PC is not going to be enough to run this game on the lowest quality lol
-
3 RepliesYes, Star Citizen is a much better scam than Destiny. $200 for ship DLC for a game that isn't even out yet? BRILLIANT!
-
1 ReplyLaters eah...

6 Replieslol. I'm a Star Citizen backer. (yes I'm like the biggest sucker of all video game history, my money is easily had by flashing some nice graphics in front of me.) All there is in Star Citizen right now is a hanger, a dog fighting mode and some kind of racing mode I haven't even tried yet. It's not even a game yet and when you mean good PC, prepare uranus... I have an i7 with 780GTXs in SLI and I get ok performance with it. Some of the ships will have 7 million polygons in them. Kinda nuts. I don't think this game is coming out any time soon.

1 ReplyPretty funny that with all the "ZOMG DLC! BUNGIE IS ROBBING US!" talk, this guy is happy to be held hostage for new content. Literally, you have to pay real money to get access to any new content. Anytime the community says "give us X!" the developer will always say, sure thing, just give us more money. Nothing wrong with this approach at all by the way, it is just funny how this game will be vastly more expensive than Destiny but no one ever complains about its model which is DLC at its very core. That being said, I would fully expect this game to be better than Destiny. If I have to spend $500 or more on something it had better be better than something I spend $65 on.
