Is it thick and immersive? Are there any cut-scenes? Lore? Will it be expanded?
I've heard so many complaining about it being a generic FPS, yet I also know it's been in the making for ages.
I come from the Mass Effect universe, so my expectations are surely skewed. (not saying it's better or worse, just different)

After playing the campaign, levelled up to 26 through what felt like hundreds of repeated strikes and many un-balanced Crucible matches, I've concluded that this game has no story, no soul, no variation, no feeling of completion, and is just a grind similar to a dungeon crawler. The game mechanics are great and feel fun, even if you can't hide around corners or behind obstacles like in Gears of War. I definitely don't want to pay another £30 for slightly more story elements and more maps with the same repetitive grind. I was hoping for that "epic adventure" Bungie promised, and a reason to buy the PS4, but I'm sad to say this isn't it. So I'm selling my copy in wait for a game that feels big and complete. Au revoir.

2 RepliesI got to play it myself, and must say that story and character interactions i incredibly limited and shallow. Shame.

Story not told half as well as Mass Effect was. Story skips around, fails to really develop characters, or even truly introduce us to them. Needs way more content. Destiny 2 could fill most of the gaps though.

Currently there really isn't much of a story. Most of the lore is not even in the game, but unlocked via in-game activities and then available here on this website. The story available in-game doesn't really have any characterization of any of the characters, there are no character arcs, none of the characters in the cutscenes even have names. Motives for the various factions aren't really explained in-game. If you take the entirety of the Mass Effect story (3 main games - not books or anything else), the story present in Destiny is maybe about 1/4 of the first Mass Effect - possibly 1/3. But even at 1/4 the way through ME 1 you know more about the characters you've encountered (and their motives) than you do of anyone in Destiny after you finish the campaign.

Destiny does have a lot of story to add, do to so many un answered questions. The upcoming DLC will add more to the story. They game feels different once you hit the level cap of 20. That's when you will be grinding like nails on a chalk bored to get legendary items and exotic weapons and to get those weapons you have to do 30 bounties within 3 days. The weekly strike missions and PVP will help a lot to level up past 20. the game feels different and bungie does change it up weekly and daily to keep the game fresh as they add more challenges and better rewards.

2 RepliesBungie will add more to the story. The story for now falls pretty flat as it's not there with only 6 cutscenes. You can get through the main game in 6 hours or so. The game is still a baby and more will be added to the game. Hopefully more cutscenes, intence action cutscenes. There's a lot more to the story that needs to be added though.

The characters (including your own) are one-dimensional. The story is epic in scope, but only in scope. There is lots of potential but the story-telling is far from engaging and the plot is less than immersive. SUPER fun shooter and awesome social tool for gamers, but I'm let down by the weak story aspect.

Realised I made this a question thread, where there is no real correct answer. Sorry for that!

I've heard that there are more cutscenes and that the ones we saw in the beta are longer.
