More or less, you still have a set route of where you're going, but the worlds aren't two-dimensional at all nearly, and it has homages to Crystal Shards and the different worlds you can explore along the journey, but there's a "hub" that is similar to what was in the TV Show, where you can rest and gain benefits. Honestly I'd like to say there could be some actual dialogue and story characters to it besides Kirby, but that might be too much of a stretch to apply to it.
