So.. is Destiny the only game that'll be made within the 10 years?
Or are they making a Destiny 2 within that time period? I never quite got whether I'd be playing Destiny on my box 360 for the next 10 years or if after about 4 I'd have to switch to a PS4/Xbox 720.

1 ReplyNo. Bungie has stated that they have designed Destiny to span the lifetime of nextgen consoles. Supposedly there will be 4 Destiny titles released bi-yearly, with a "Comet" expansion being released each subsequent year. I'm assuming each Destiny title will run on the same engine that they are using for Destiny, so you may be able to play all 4 on your 360, all though I'm sure the better experience would be on nextgen consoles like the PS4/Durango.

There's some concerns with it, especially if the crowd that thinks subsequent Destiny installments will be more like expansions than seperate titles. Even with that in mind, I -doubt- all Destiny titles will be available for the 360 Hardware. It's already seriously dated. Again, we'll see though.

i read over the contract, it specifies 4 games, and 4 expansions called "comets". they're supposed to be released in a Rotational manner (ex. destiny1 released 2014 comet 1 in 2015 destiny2 in 2016 and so on) so, expect that destiny will last to the next "nextgen"

There's going to be three games and one DLC called a Comet each. I'm pretty sure it was in those leaked contracts. Just checked Destinypedia... huh, on one thing it mentions four more games... hmm, I'm gonna check THFE.

Eventually you will have to switch to a new gen console, but that won't be for a while... the way Bungie explained the next 10 years is that they will release Destiny itself, then in one year an expansion in the form of downloadable content, one year after that another hard expansion, and so on and so forth... there will four hard copies and four downloadable content patches all together...

I would think of it similar to how World of Warcraft does it with there new releases.

Youll have to switch at some point.No one is still making xbox games. Youll see the first one release this gen and after that next gen only.

Well, the contract released with Activision stated that there would be a two year release cycle. I don't know if Bungie is going to make it a modular game with an annual subscription service or not. If they did, they would technically only release one game. Otherwise it would be Destiny 1, 2, 3, etc. Unless the terms and conditions of the contract have changed.

7 RepliesThere will (supposedly) be 4 different Destiny games, along with one DLC expansion for each game. Destiny will come out for the PS3, PS4, X360, and X720, and I can only speculate that Destiny 2 will be only next gen.
