Smokers of the flood, what do you smoke?

Just curious. I personally don't smoke, but it seems like a very therapeutic habit. People buy them at the store all the time. I'll probably go for cigars rather than cigarettes though.

  • Lambert and Butler. When I'm abroad I smoke Marlboro Reds. I can go most of the day without one if I'm busy, its when I start drinking it becomes impossible to avoid a cigarette.

Electronic cigarettes. Though based on their size (a larger battery and larger cartomizer) they could be seen as e-cigars. No burning of any material so there is no particulate matter, no smoke particles, no ash, no tar, and none of the thousands of chemicals (harmful, harmless and unverified) that are contained in the smoke from burning a substance. Instead it is a vapor of vegetable glycerin and/or propylene glycol which are classified as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) and are used/ingested by millions daily (in anything from medical inhalers to toothpaste and foodstuffs). Flavor and controlled dosage nicotine are the only variables and additives. Some of the flavors are pretty amazing.
but it seems like a very therapeutic habit.
I would disagree with you there. It is a habit, it is a personal choice, and as an adult, I can make that choice. As to therapeutic value? I would say that [google]nicotine[/google] is a substance that a mature person should evaluate for themselves (plenty of literature and research out there). For myself? Eliminating the known carcinogens in cigarette/cigar smoke and manually controlling (and reducing over time) my nicotine consumption? That is/was my personal and best choice for me. It allowed me to give up cigars (though I still do treat myself on occasion) and my wife to give up traditional tobacco cigarettes. The therapeutic effects of nicotine are debatable. It has an effect on the human body and brain, whether those effects are therapeutic? I would not project my determination onto others or tell them that their personal decisions were either right or wrong.

    • When I used to smoke, I smoked Marlboro Reds and Blacks. I also occasionally smoke cigars; my favorite is the Partagas Black

I wouldn't get started on smoking, It's enjoyable because their addicted. Now Enjoying something because you're addicted isn't inherently bad, but to be addicted to something with such bad risks (like cancer) and other negative things like yellowed teeth and nails, bad breath etc, doesn't seem worth it. Of course If you honestly don't mind those risks then go ahead, just don't do it around non-smokers.

        • I used to smoke cigarettes, maybe four or five a week. Haven't had a single drag since November though, when I started to get into the fitness/bodybuilding lifestyle. Still hit the green every now and then, but rarely.

I tend to buy organic natural tobacco. A few dollars more expensive but worth it. Yay no rat poison! I also enjoy a good cigar.
