Pineapple on a Burger
I was reading through an article a few minutes ago and something in it caught my eye that lingered and filled me with a bit of intrigue: pineapple on a burger.
I'm curious if anyone that haunts these halls have ever tried such a thing and if so, was it any good? I have a mixed opinion as to the possible awesomeness and/or horror such an idea could be.

Did you know that pineapples have tiny needles in their fruit-flesh to discourage eating? That's why your mouth feels tingly after eating a bunch.

1 ReplyIts ok, I've had Pineapple on many foods including deserts, its ok on a burger. I prefer a southwestern style burger with jack cheese and jalapenos. Now to commit heresy, [i]Pineapple goes on Pizza[/i], sometimes with jalapenos...

2 RepliesUsing the same principles as pineapple on pizza and imagining it on a burger, I can't imagine it working out I tried pineapple on pizza, it's okay but the sweetness from the pineapple doesn't mix well with the cheese and sauce, so it wouldn't mix too well with a burger with cheese and a more savory flavor with the meat patty

1 ReplyThat’s honestly less atrocious than pineapple on pizza, because similar foods like tomatoes and onions are already put on pizza. Heck, I’d try it once.

3 RepliesI did, where i'm from there's a lot of "weird food", usually pizza but we also mess with burgers and sushi sometimes. It's fine, pineapple goes really well with meat, makes it tender, but I wouldn't go out of my way or pay extra for a slice of it in a burger. Personally I prefer hot sauce over the sweet/sour taste of pineapple.

So pineapple is regularly paired with gammon when you have it out (at least it is here in the uk where for lots of people it’s still 1976), so I guess it [i]might[/i] work in some sort of gammon burger with lots of cheese, but I’m not particularly willing to test the theory out, as I always opt for the fried eggs on my gammon anyway.
