Trials is Endgame PvP, it's not a place to learn

I'm having no more fun in trials than any other low k/d player this weekend but I think everybody needs to realize that trials is not supposed to be balanced. It's the FA Cup. The lowest ranked player can match the highest ranked player, that's just how it goes. There is a 3v3 comp playlist that is heavily SBMM for a reason. THAT is where you go to learn. If you're just fiending for the trials loot then you're going to have to get used to the idea of VERY slowly grinding it out with (mostly) losses. Please realise when you come on here spitting fire about how "unfair" trials is, you are basically asking for a raid easy mode. Endgame is endgame for a reason.

If Trails was anything close to the FA Cup, it'd be the best of the best fighting the best of the best. You're arguing for SBMM without realizing it. Trials has more in common with American Gladiators. Regular people sign up to try and win cool stuff, not understanding that they just entered themselves into a humiliation ritual. As they're pitted against roided up pro-athletes in challenges of physicality, heavily slanted in the athletes' favor. The only difference is that it's a bunch of basement dwellers high off Ritalin with cheating peripherals vs normal people with a 9 to 5 and other responsibilities who just want cool guns to shoot aliens with.

It's never going to be endgame until the top 5% play against the top 5% - not against the bottom 40%. That's just nonsense. Anyone telling you this is endgame content is telling you a joke. It;s not "best on best" - it's "best on worst".

      • Wrong... most sports have minor leagues and amateurs. 2. Pro Leagues are bracketed and have Divisions that match the best players against each other. You theory falls apart when you consider that Pro teams don't make a habit of stomping the local softball team. It's not "survival of the fittest" anywhere in popular competition. Even in fighting.... Why do the heavyweights in Trials demand open weight classes then... Even in chess it's seen as dishonorable. To your point, if Trials IS truly endgame... why can't the winners get bracketed together? Like almost every other fair competitive activity that's ever existed? Football (Soccer) Football (US) Baseball Basketball MMA Tennis Golf Chess And your theory falls apart, because after 7 wins... the lobbies change dramatically. How do I know? I did it last night. And it's because these fake tryhards are manipulating lobbies on a massive scale... a secret I aim to figure out now after my experiences last night. Because the difference is so extreme. Clearly sub 7 wins matchmaking is fully corrupted and compromised now. Why are the lobbies so much better after 7 wins?

          • Trials used to be fun when the player count was up . Now the few players left are killing trials for the rest . Its black and white not rocket science . If bungie wants to throw all flawless players back into a pool once they have gone flawless for the weekend it might open up some tough competition between two lesser skilled teams and be a lot of fun . But as it is now its not worth even playing if your not a pvp main . They should have a tier system based on how many times you have went flawless per season, not that happy bs bungie does now and throws everyone into a pot . That will never end well. And pvp will continue to die off .

              • This mentality will be trials end. It is a self sabotaging gameview. You need consecutive wins to get flawless, if everyone under 1.5> KD decides to bail, the pool will shrink and people will play the same opponents continually. Now try to win 7 matches when everyone you match is 1.6< KD. It ain’t gunna happen. Than streamers complain and the gamemode dies.

                  • Raiding doesn't require a large pool of players to play it, trials does. Unless, of course, you want to only play against a small sweaty subset of the d2 population.

                  • Trials is so bad like all of pvp in destiny. You just can’t take it seriously anymore ! Low low numbers so there is no balance. Won’t be long for marathon 😃😂

                  • This was the best laugh of the day . Its takes little effort to cheat your way to the lighthouse. Bungie should just sell their own cheat device call it the "ride to the lighthouse". Pay to win.

                  • So you want Trials to be solely for sweaty players… shocking as to why Trials is, sweaty, dried up, toxic, filled with cheaters, and has almost no casuals. Go figure.

                  • That may have been true in Destiny 1, but comp has become the real endgame PvP in D2. Trials is more of a loot grab. Like IB used to be.

                  • I think it’s ok to ‘learn’ in trials but people shouldn’t expect to all do well. Like you said, it’s a knockout cup with all mixed skills (like the FA cup). The best likely win most of the time but if you’re lucky and play well a lower skill player can go all the way. Too many people think they should do better than they actually do and whatever Bungie does, I’m not sure how they can change that attitude.

                      • Actually, I think Trials is a great place to learn. Especially after the introduction of the persistence passage. As you win rounds you get more rep and loot, and as you gain skill you’ll work through the card earning enough wins to get an adept weapon. As long as you don’t expect to jump in and go flawless in your first few runs, Trials is a great place to earn top tier loot and learn important things about the game.

                        • Then make it so that only adept+ players can play. Only the top can participate. If it's "endgame" pvp, why it's not an elite battlefield, instead of a noob farm that it currently is?

                          • This is the best approach to Trials and getting those players to the Lighthouse. From Destiny 1, Skirmish is a three vs. three Crucible playlist.[2] It is a standard team deathmatch gametype, but when a Guardian dies, their ghost will hover where they last died, giving teammates a chance to revive them. Doing so grants an extra +50 points for that team. However, if a Guardian cannot be revived by teammates, they will have to wait five seconds before respawning, or be auto-respawned 15 seconds after death.

                          • Amen. There's places to learn. To grow. And to compete. After double mercy, flawless pool, practice pool, FTMM, removing card wins as a factor... If you have time to complain, you can use that energy to learn to aim. Where to stand. Play private match elim with other .6kds
