AMD 7900XT Artifacts

I've come across an issue specifically with the AMD 7900 XT graphics cards. The videos were originally captured by another player, of which I obtained permission to upload and share. I'll delete this after a few weeks. The following videos are showing random black artifacts in particular parts of the game. Easiest to find in Kings Fall right at the start but still present in other places, such as the PVP map Cathedral of Dusk. Some links below to show the issue. https://youtu.be/tJkYhAeXenY https://youtu.be/eOQ7PqP7ox4 https://youtu.be/ksJNxi15xMc I work as a system integrator and have had to process a GPU for an RMA, to do so we of course need to replicate the issue. This issue wasn't present in any other games, benchmarks or other types of software what so ever, purely isolated to Destiny 2 as far as I could find. As we couldn't find a fault directly with the card, we concluded that it may have been an issue with the game itself so we had tested 5 other brand/model versions of this card and also a 7900XTX variant and this was replicated consistently across all 5 we tested. We also tested a 6800XT that we couldn't replicate the issue so it doesn't seem driver related, but I could be wrong there. These cards were tested in the other players system and 3 other completely unique systems with totally different components, on both AMD and Intel chipsets, which didn't replicate the issue with the 6800XT concluding it's something related to the game with more evidence. This isn't my GPU, I wanted to just put this on the radar for Bungie to be made aware if they're not already. If other guardians are having the same issue and have found a fix, what did you do to alleviate the problem? It's my understanding that this issue can also cause crashes in games after extended play and in different activities. I looked for a couple of hours whilst at work and couldn't find any other reports of this elsewhere.

  • It's doing this for me too. 7900xtx, 13600k, 4k 144hz m28u It's really bad in certain sections of the new dungeon when you're in the hive ship sections and the screen is mostly white. It also does it out on the EDZ fishing spots mostly around the horizon where the trees meet the sky. Just went in Kingsfall opening encounter after watching your videos and it's doing it in there too. Haven't had problems in any other games.

I'm having the exact same issue with my AMD radeon 7900 xtx reference model. I get small random black artifacts on my screen at certain points, my game never crashes or anything, just the exact artifacts shown in this video. I only seem to get this in destiny 2. My system is Ryzen 5800x3d, 32gb ram, 7900 xtx, 4k 144hz gigabyte FV43U monitor and I'm running the game on a 2TB nvme drive. It seems like this is an issue with the 7000 series Amd cards?

      • First time I see this problem being reported; normally I'd say it's a VRAM problem, but if you could replicate the same on different cards with the same GPU and/or GPU family, I think it's better to report it to AMD too.
