Seasonal model burnout
Topic title. All this is other noise on the forums is pointless. Just spice things up please.

Stale for me now , just too repetitive and more grinding . Finished season pass and story …oh well 45 days till next season and same thing . I’m not actively doing seasonal challenges anymore .

The seasonal model after Activision left is the most empty idea they have implemented in the game. You are literally paying a one year’s worth of empty content. Compared to what we have before Activision left, there was solid value to what we pay annually. Now, it’s just empty. You’re paying for empty nothing.🤣 And guess what they did to the ones we’ve paid before Activision left? They vaulted them. Haha!🤣Buried evidence of how better D2 was when Activision was here. Now, all you see is evidence of a broken an empty game. Annual pass full of empty nothing. Haha!🤣 Hamsters running everywhere going nowhere!

I'm a relatively new player (started a few days after the release of Witch Queen) and so far I've enjoyed my experience with the game. I do think the seasonal activities need a bit more meat to them, Ketchcrash and... eugh... Expedition ,for example, got boring very quickly. I was bit more into exploring the Derelict Leviathan but even that lost its luster in time due to the lack of more areas to look through for secrets and hidden encounters. I am hoping that future seasons will provide more actually varied activities, otherwise the burnout will inevitably hit me as well.

Single player content is the same copy-pasted -blam!- from 2013 what was already in Destiny 1 and the "PvP" is so broken and irritating I would rather drink bleach than to try to play it more than two matches in a row. Just move on with your life. Forget and move on. Also: seasonal FOMO model marketed by every big company causes burn out. It's not sustainable and it's not natural to manipulate people to try and grind a game every day for multiple months in row. Gaming wasn't like this in the past. Now these corporations want "engagement" and this has nothing to do with "fun". They just want people to get attached to their game, that's all because most games these days are just digital storefronts designed to nickle and dime you to hell and back. It's -blam!- up. Bungie is not the only one doing this.

1 ReplyI just play when I feel like it. I don't care about the title, you can reach lvl 100 relatively easy, even much more than that, I don't care about doing GMs this season cause the weapons are meh anyway. Seasonal activities are mind numbingly boring at this point. They are OK for several weeks and then become insufferable. People that really wanna go for everything in the game, 100%, and have been doing for years - damn... I would never have made it, would have uninstalled long time ago. It's some dedication alright.

The seasonal model comes from the corporate desire for fomo. Always sinking people a little bit deeper into sunk cost thinking. Keeping it so that you're always thinking of their product.

I’m not going for the seasonal seal this time. Just can’t be asked. It’s boring and takes so much time. Just not worth it. And I’m saying this as a completionist with massive OCD.

I wish they would bring back old seasons for me to level up after I’m done with this season. It would keep me playing until I finish those other passes. Right now from the games I play only Halo MCC does that and I think Halo Infinite does that too. Idk why billion dollar bungo won’t.

Sometimes I play seasonal content, sometimes I don't. One good thing about it is that different seasonal material appeals to different players. I like the puzzles and mini-raids more than I liked playing Destiny basketball. After grinding this season, though, I'm annoyed that certain parts of the title are time-gated and rely on random drops, which place earning the title out of my control. Plus, we need to use LFG for one triumph if our friends/clan don't want to participate. I haven't gone for a title in a while and after this, I won't again unless the content and rewards are over-the-top. (That's highly doubtful.) I do miss the old content and system, though.

I'm still waiting to see how much better the game is supposed to be without Activision. At least that is what a few Bungie fans tried to push on the community, but for some reason, they disappeared or went silent. Knowing it's been a good couple of years and not much has changed to actually improved the experience for the players enjoyment I'm guessing this is as good as it will ever get, and that isn't saying much at all. Destiny has slowly but surely headed in the opposite direction since Activision left. I thought developers were supposed to move their games forward and improve their games as time moves on, not look for ways to drag their games out as long as possible adding a bunch of nonsense just to show time played. Destiny should have been handed over to a company that could handle a game like this. I don't know who, but even VV would have done a much better job seeing their work they did for Bungie. Bungie has shown they have been struggling for 8 years now, and in the last couple of years, it has been really showing how bad things actually are.

There should be a community exotic and let the community shape it. Stats of the Exotic is dependent on the weapons used across different activities, with a smidge of sandbox balance.

Agreed. I think destiny has lost its magic slightly. No community or secret event since DMT and the corridors of time before that. I think there is plenty of content but it’s just become more of a machine now rather than a unique and fun game.
