With the announcement of the new Solstice armor in the latest TWAB, I have decided to bring up a very interesting point that myself amd many destiny players have thought about, asymmetrical armor. Now don't get me wrong, there are many good looking pieces of armor that are asymmetrical, however, this is not always the case. I believe I speak for much of the Destiny 2 community and more specifically many hunter mains as well when I say that we are tired of getting many asymmetrical arms/legs where really only one of the arms/legs look good compared to the other. Now sometimes an asymmetrical pair of arms can look great when paired with other pieces of armor and other times it would look better symmetrical. One thought I had on how to make this better would be to implement a new thing in armor transmog, in the arms amd legs sections you could now have an option for both arms to look like the right arm or both to look like the left or to make the left look like the right and right to look like the left, as well with the same system for the legs. Now I'm not saying this is that answer to this problem, it is just one idea I had. I'm sure this would as well be additional work to create opposite models of arms and legs in game when there are other parts of the game that you could be working on, but I do think something like this could be beneficial for the future. Thank you for reading.
TLDR: It would be cool to introduce a new system into armor transmog to make asymmetrical arms/legs symmetrical.

Edited by Scratch: 7/16/2022 11:15:00 PMYup. There is a huge distinction to be made between Asymmetrical armor and Incomplete armor. Take, for example the Kiyot hunter arms. They are Asymmetrical because the left arm isn't a mirror image of the right, but it works because they look like a 'set' of gloves. Yes, there are darts on one arm and the weaved bulb on is only on one shoulder, but they compliment each other. It looks like both arms were bought at the same time, it's an asymmetrical 'set' To contrast, look at Apex Sun's Grip(s). There is no right arm! This is not asymmetrical armor, it's Incomplete armor. The right arm is missing! It's not a full set where one arm is slightly different than the other but the two work together, it's incomplete. Compare that to the Apex legs. You've only got one golden gun on one of your hips. Asymmetrical as it gets. But it looks good because a golden gun on each hip would look silly. I have no problem with cohesive asymmetry, it's when they simply remove parts for the sake of removing parts that I dislike. Look at the mech armor. Titan arms, asymmetrical but cohesive. Hunter arms, missing arm. Hunter legs, one leg is missing pieces, it's exactly like the other leg, but it's missing some parts. One leg is incomplete! Huge difference.

I'm tired of pointy parts. No more pointy!

3 RepliesIt's not just Hunter. Its been brought up repeatedly. Whereas an advanced editor would be possible and desirable, we currently cannot even fav shaders nor UO pieces, nor can we even save our looks (or our loadouts). It's unlikely and they need to get those basics in first, asap.

Every time I see a set of armor where one leg, or arm is missing its armor; I feel like I lost it in the dryer. Like how you always end up losing one sock. I don't get why just one of my legs is invulnerable to damage. Like maybe I only fight with my right leg forward. To each their own but It's not for me. To me it feels like every artist is doing the same asymmetrical thing. I just want some practical, sleek, and streamlined armor sets. I keep seeing armor sets with like 5 pouches on the chest piece. I feel like I'm bringing my lunch to work in them, which is important to stop and take time for lunch, but if I'm a hunter, I could just hunt down some snacks. I know it's not easy being an artist but I just want choices other than asymmetrical, that's all I'm saying.

Edited by KidSixXx: 7/15/2022 1:15:32 PMI tend to agree. The whole point of asymmetrical armor in the real world was to protect medieval knights that specialized in mounted combat. Armor favors the right side of the body to protect him when he's riding at full gallop and is most likely to be hit by an enemy lance or spear on his fighting side as he makes his attack. The knight's shield would provide cover for the left side of his body. You don't see infantry in asymmetrical armor as weight needs to be evenly distributed on the body to offer efficient movement. If the Bungie dev team really thought about it, Hunters and Warlocks would never wear asymmetrical armor; that would mostly be the purview of Titans. Hunter armor should be symmetrical and minimalist to provide maximum mobility.

Yeah, getting sick of the asymmetrical crap. The stuff rarely goes good with other stuff.

1 ReplySolution: Make it Bsymmetrical.

3 RepliesCan I get rid of the cape and hood already? If i can just spam invisibility now, I don't need a cloak.

Lot of people don't want to run around with 1 clean arm and a tumor on the other

Has that always been your bungie id or did you use your one time name change on it

I hate asymmetrical armor i swapped to warlock cause I hate being lopsided

I’m sitting on 15 whatever it’s called ornament unlock thingy, and 500 related currency for each character. 95% of the ornament are hideous, that’s true for all classes.

this is a really cool idea, but the tech requirements to make this work would be huge.

1 ReplyTitan's complained a lot about asymmetrical armor and now we've getting almost exclusively symmetrical so if Hunter's do the same should happen to you too

That's a good thing about calibands hand, both arms are the same -
Bump bump bump bump BUMP Couldn't agree with this more.

I just wish they's make hands have their own ornament system. Tired of cool arms leaving our hands totally naked.
