Funny thing is that most of us in the european area have far better internet than the US. I'm in sweden and play with my boys in the US. We don't have this lag issue. Now bungie has had a lot of lag issues lately and I think it's more due to crossplay than anything else. Players playing with and against other platforms.

Only a portion of what happens in the game is hosted on servers, most of it is P2P and that is why it is so inconsistent, and who you have laggy games with also depends where in Europe you are because in addition to the connection quality the distance also matters. I usually have no significant lag issues with Russian players as we share a border with them, and the majority of that countries population is on the European side. When i get players from basically anywhere in Southern Europe its a different story, its almost always laggy as you might expect due to the distance here from the North, but obviously it is not all that matters because many of the players from the UK, France and Germany are laggy as well although all of those countries are close enough that i can play on a sub 50ms ping on servers located in any one of these countries in other games that actually have servers. I would be extremely surprised if Destiny ever gets servers, all we can hope for is better geolocation and more regional matchmaking from Bungie, as well as sorting out crossplay which has some terrible lag between the console platforms.
