You don’t reward people for trying. You get reward as for completing things.

School for years has been teaching people they get a gold star for showing up, and a trophy for participating. Here's the result in real life.

Real life? It's a videogame.

I mean that’s not true. If you do poorly in school you don’t pass and have to repeat or get held back. Also none of that is relevant to this. If you walk in a school and go to one class but none of the others you don’t get shit. That’s this situation. A person who didn’t even show up.

Twenty years ago my daughter came home, frustrated about her school basketball team. She tried really hard and basically carried the team a lot. But when it came to trophies, they all got the same one as her, whether they ever scored a point or not. It wasn't a "team" trophy, it was individual trophies - for participating. She asked, "why try so hard when everyone else gets the same trophy?" That's the kind of thing I was talking about, not grades. Frankly, the introduction of pass/fail grades was part of all that mentality too. That started even earlier. I hope that clarifies my thought process behind my earlier post :)

Everyone got a trophy because she didn’t carry shit. You can’t be a single person team. Just because she thought they were doing nothing doesn’t make it true. Also 20 years ago, how old was your daughter. Also why weren’t you supporting your daughter at her game. Why did she have to come home and inform you of events?

Well you weren't there so I reckon we'll have to disagree on that one. Don't start in with the ad hominem attacks that's not what we're here for.
-
I mean apparently you weren’t there for your daughter either so we’re actually even. Whatever Boomer.

The point is, you don't get the trophy with this idea - literally just the 5th ORNAMENT - you had to have got 4/5 of the others - its not a participation prize I was suggesting - it's to fill GAPS in COSMETICS that are no longer available.
