Remember when we had fun gear to work towards that didn’t get nerf cries?
Everybody wanted gjallarhorn, people were dedicated to the grind to get Jotunn, black hammer was the original top tier PvE sniper and was what a legendary should be, Sleeper Simulant was ghorn 2.0 with even more ammo.
I could keep listing fun gear but this push for a balanced sandbox leaves out the fact that despite a majority of the loot pool revolving around generic COD guns, this is a SCI-FI game untold centuries into the future after a golden age of expansion in technology no less.
Fun gear be it weapons or armor gets ruined all the time because Destiny is a puzzle revolving around three pieces that are VERY different from one another.
Each change to the sandbox, each DLC, pinnacle grind, etc effects all three for better or worse and it creates an environment where every creative decision has to be stifled. As it is especially with how accepted sunsetting is and nerfing hard earned gear, I’ve had a hard time finding a reason to work for gear that has a expiration date of usefulness that starts the day it’s released.
Gear like reckoning armor, Truth, mountaintop, Reckoner, Jotunn, Sleeper, are just a few examples of things people had to work for that now eventually will or currently do mean nothing thanks to Bungie itself or people complaining that all this unique gear is ruining their dollar store COD gameplay.
