SBMM is not needed.
SBMM polluted the game and created the skill gap that you seem to have described in this post.
SBMM made bad players think they were good and kept them in a bubble, shielded from the average or decent players.
CBMM needs to stay permanently (and comp actually needs a proper ranking system) to reverse the effects of SBMM.

Ever enter a marathon or a bowling league or a golf tournament or play adult sports like softball? They all have leagues, categories or handicaps, all forms of SBMM. No one would participate in any of those if only the best could win. The same applies here.
Ever enter a marathon or a bowling league or a golf tournament or play adult sports like softball? They all have leagues, categories or handicaps, all forms of SBMM. No one would participate in any of those if only the best could win. The same applies here.
Doesn't apply at all. 1. Those are competitive events, I fully support sbmm - in competitive modes. That is the opposite of 6vs6. 2. Comp is the competitive MLB game - 6vs6 is the casual pickup game you play with guys from the block - whoever shows up plays, from Johnny no thumbs to derek the all star of the suburbs. 3. Every guardian is alike weapons, damage and class ability wise - so it's the same as saying a bad MLB team (mets) shouldn't play a good one (Yankees). 4. A far more accurate example is a nascar race where everyone shows up driving the same car but the unskilled drivers demand the skilled ones be disqualified. Which would be regarded as completely ridiculous. As indeed sbmm is.

Wow! I didnt know video games were real life sports! I also didnt know that quick play was a tournament!
-
Then spelling bees, car shows and home brew competitions. Not sports at all. But the same thing applies.
-
How is quickplay the same as let’s say comp or trials? Please enlighten me?
-
Real life vs video games gj
-
So are you just dreaming or imagining that you are playing a game, working a controller and trying to beat another person or are you doing it in real life?
-
-
Quickplay isn't a league. It's the equivalent of heading out to a basketball court to play some pickup games with friends or complete strangers.
-
And no one that's bad at basketball would ever do that.
-
What? I see bad people go to play all the damn time because they want to improve. You guys just have zero interest in getting better.
-
It's a fallacy to assume everyone can get better. Will the 5 foot two inch basketball player ever get good enough to play with the 6 foot plus guys? Probably not. That's why there are under 6 foot leagues.
-
Once again this is not a league.
-
Every guardian is 6 feet.
-
Sorry, no. Not everyone has the same capability and not everyone can get better. Why aren't we all rocket scientists and sports stars if we are all the same.
-
Sorry, no. Not everyone has the same capability and not everyone can get better. Then everyone is on the level, the mets arent as good skill wise as the Yankees. Thwy still have to play them sometimes. No different then here.
-
It's entirely different here. What is going on here without SBMM is the equivalent of letting the Mets and Yankees play minor league teams.
-
It's entirely different here. What is going on here without SBMM is the equivalent of letting the Mets and Yankees play minor league teams.
No it isnt, it's the equivalent of the Yankees playing the mets or of minor leage team A playing minor league team G

What you describe is SBMM. You'd have to explain why you think SBMM still applies even though it has been removed. CBMM is what allows anyone to be up against anyone regardless of skill level.
-
No what I describe is cbmm, bad teams (mets) (low skill players) dont get segregated from good teams (yankees) (good players)
-
MLB is divided up into leagues. Single A, double A, triple A and pro. The teams in each of the leagues reflect the players skill levels. Single A teams are not as skilled as double A teams, double A teams are not as skilled as triple A teams and so on. Teams only play other teams within their leagues. Pro teams only play other pro teams, triple A teams only play other triple A teams and so on. The Mets play the Yankees because they are both pro teams. The Mets and Yankees don't play any teams in the lower leagues. This is SBMM defined. Teams only play other teams of their own skill level. If MLB was all one big league, then every team would have to play everyone else. Single A teams would have to play pro teams and they would get stomped. This is what CBMM does in Destiny, low skilled players have to play high skilled players and they get stomped. Your last response said CBMM means low skilled players don't get segregated from good players. I agree that's what it is, I don't agree that the game should work that way anymore than I would agree that the Mets and Yankees should play against single A teams.
