it’s definitely shin. aside from us, he is considered as the most powerful hunter and guardian. the vanguard and the entire guardian race are afraid of him.
It doesn’t matter who you are and how powerful you are. if you fall into darkness completely. he would definitely come for you.

Lore from D1 states Osiris being the most powerful guardian. Also, I wonder where Drifter would fall in these debates. He is one of the very few guardians who can wield each class.

Shin’s great and definitely has a shot at Greatest, but I’m gonna play a little devil’s advocate to get some gears grinding, just to get you to consider other things. He’s considered the best gunslinger except for maybe Efrideet, with a skilled Golden Gun to boot. Ana Bray has the most powerful recorded Golden Gun, but she doesn’t seem to hold a candle to the other Guardians that have been stated to be the most powerful like Osiris, Ikora and Felwinter. Shin is not considered to be the most powerful. No one wants to cross Shin in a gunfight, though. Just being good in a fight isn’t all we’re looking at anyway. Shin’s legendary for the Golden Gun and killing corrupt Lightbearers, but is that enough to grant him the title of Greatest? Oh, and he also gets bonus points for being a pretty good guy, especially now that he realizes everything’s not black and white. And I’d give him more bonus points for founding the Shadows of Yor, because the original members were awesome, and for his plan to draw out the corrupted ones.

I am not saying you are wrong. she did have one of the most powerful GG but i heard from a lore video ( don’t know if it’s byf, evade or myelin) that another hunters golden gun shot was so powerful that the damage was equal to nuclear supernova ( would be nice if some lore master in these forums could confirm this). Another lore exists in one of the armor pieces that drifter himself said that he don’t know if our guardian can win against shin malphur. Remember this is after we defeated riven and avenged cayde. But this thread is not about the strongest or the most powerful. so why I think shin is the greatest? Unlike most of the light bearers, he did not die before he became a guardian. he saw his father die to a corrupt guardian. he took the weapon from his father ( last word), and years later put down dredged yor. And also made a vow he will hunt down anyone else who will follow this path. He also gets bonus points from me because of a theory of why he created the shadows of yor. ( Remember this just a speculation and is not confirmed) We know that after reyzl azir became dredgon yor, he did not have a ghost and was known to be corrupted. what does corrupt means?, did he get darkness powers ( stasis or something else). After he killed yor, shin went to finish other corrupt guardians who may have also had stasis powers. By hunting these darkness guardians, shin himself obtained stasis somehow ( or he got it when he finished of yor). Remember the pyramids wants really powerful people on their side. It’s even telling our guardians to follow them. Shin understood the concept of darkness and wants to create a balance between light and dark. hence why he created the shadows with praxic order warlock. he will test if these guardians who obtained stasis could keep a balance between them. If they lean on darkness too much he will finish them off. Anyway this is just a theory and time will tell. - Also, I thought Efrideet was blade dancer/ arc strider. It has been confirmed she has arc element. she might have solar as well but who knows. - if the shin theory turns out to be true that he also wields stasis then he is like Gill from street fighter lol.
