Allo there,
You can only gain a charge when you have a mod that uses that charge up. So for instance equipping taking charge on its own won't grant the a charge but having high energy fire mod on another armour piece will grant the charge from the taking charge mod.

I'm using the surprise attack mod for using charges of light to empower the side arm but i am no longer getting charges of light. any explanation for that? YES I have 2 mods that provide me with charges from different sources and I have tried using around 6 different gun type but never getting any charges of light with this mod equipped. its not that its using them up i'm just not ever getting charges at this point.
