Armor system needs work

Okay, so I don't really know how other players feel about armor 2.0, but I personally HATE certain aspects about it. I work a lot of hours per week, so I REALLY do not have enough time to grind ordeals multiple times trying to get the necessary materials to be able to masterwork only ONE piece of armor, two if I get lucky. On top of that, I don't feel any sort of personal connection with the armor itself beyond general aesthetics, which is entirely superficial. Also, I very much do not like how older armor sets, especially from year 1, is always outclassed by year 3 armor in terms of both stat distributions and stat totals. I personally think that the Reverie Dawn armor (from Dreaming City) looks really freaking awesome on all 3 classes, but I almost never wear any of it because of said stat issues. Now, there are some merits to armor 2.0, namely how you can slot whatever mod you have into the appropriate elemental energy armor, provided you have the energy. The stat boosting mods are especially appreciated. This system is interesting, functional, and pretty well balanced, in my opinion. However, given the issues I've stated above, I have some ideas on how this already good system can be made even better: 1. Let year 1 and 2 armor sets roll 60 plus on the stats. If someone likes the look of an older armor set, it really sucks that that person has to decide if they'd rather have high stat year 3 armor, or good looking year 1 or 2 armor. This flows directly into my next idea: 2. Add higher difficulty versions of year 1 and 2 activities so that players still need to play a higher difficulty activity to get the better stat rolls. 3. Make ALL armor drops start at 1 energy. This will make sense when you read my other ideas, I promise. 4. Get rid of enhancement prisms and ascendant shards. Let's be real here: that aspect of the system sucks. Allow players who still have them to use them, but remove them from the loot pool. This flows into my next idea: 5. Create additional difficulty levels for Nightfall Ordeal. Ideally, there would be a total of 9 difficulty levels because: 6. Nightfall ordeals upgrade EQUIPPED armors' energy levels to the corresponding difficulty. So, the highest difficulty would upgrade all equipped armor to 10 (max energy), but the lowest difficulty would upgrade them from 1 to 2. Completing a difficulty that is equal to or lower than the armor's energy level does not improve the energy level. However, it grants a corresponding material that can be used on one piece of armor, provided no equipped armor pieces were upgraded upon completion of the ordeal. Possibly give 2 of said material for the higher difficulty levels? 7. Level 1 armor has no element attached to its energy. Instead, whatever subclass that was equipped will be the determining factor of which element the armor will be. This will only apply on the first upgrade. In my estimation, here are the benefits of this system: 1. A way to upgrade armor that is more fair to players who have fewer resources and/or less time on their hands, but still provides loot incentive to the more hard core crowd. 2. A way to upgrade armor that establishes a deeper connection between the player and his/her armor, and thus feels less hollow and soulless. 3. A way to upgrade armor that makes use of well-established methods of driving player engagement, as there is a clear path forward in terms of both level AND skill progression. This concludes my suggestion. I have a few other ideas, but I'd like to see what players (and especially you Bungie developers) think about what I've put out so far. I know I wrote a lot of stuff, so if you read the whole thing, I sincerely thank you for hearing me out, especially if you're a developer.
