My internet works perfectly and is set up correctly, but I have noticed server issues getting worse since Shadowkeep launched.
I now get a lot of “contacting destiny servers” and very slow load times into strikes and the tower, I also find the app to be very slow, I live in the U.K.
People will always say this is a problem your end but I highly doubt that now as there is nothing else I can do, I’m also running an extremely powerful PC using NVMe and I have 100mb fibre, hardwired with a static ip.

UK here, always had app issues, n seen far more ingame issues since SK. Crucible is a no go, just Russians, Japanese, n Cubans, in every playlist

I think they’ve made some changes to save money.

I noticed when SK launched the moon was dead, and after comments from the server boss on twitter saying the day 1 issues weren't lack of server space as they had plenty left over, I think they greatly overestimated how many players there would be. They consolidated server space despite them saying it was a bug (they use that excuse a lot), buy maybe you're right, less servers means bigger area spread in crucible. But also despite apparent decent player retention, concurrent numbers are pretty low, especially on console in crucible, and especially outside the US. There just enough a lot playing leading to multicultural lobbies.

I think you could be right. I never played destiny 1 or 2 with Japanese players before but that’s who I seem to see all the time these days.
