Truths and Lies Part VI: Titan (Fanfiction)

Sorry about the long break. Was very busy for a month or two and now the holidays are coming. Truths and Lies Table of Contents: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/253518460?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=0 The Tower, Next Evening. "Just like everyone else who tried. Failure." "If it makes you feel better Darek, we captured two decoys. Far more success than the others." "We were supposed to be better than the others. We had the rug pulled out from under us though. Just the same." "Hang on." "What?" "We might not be done quite yet." Kryn ran towards a terminal on the wall. She searched for evidence on Dredgen Truth she paused in a document entitled, "The Third Truth of Dredgen Truth". "There", Kryn pointed at a portion of text on the screen. "This is true justice, look to your heroes for evidence. Crota's Bane went to the Reef, Uldren wasn't seen again. Justice". "Crota's Bane. That's why you had a funny feeling about it." "So does that mean-" "Maybe not. Let's go ask Zavala something." As they ran towards Zavala Darek tried to steady his breathing. If Teren was Dredgen Truth that meant the person who helped him become who he was now is a traitor. Kryn reached Zavala first and wasted no time belting out a river of information. Zavala looked confused. "Come again?" "We think Teren might be Dredgen Truth." "That's a serious accusation." "Can you tell us where he's on patrol right now?" Zavala cleared his throat. "Teren is not slated for a patrol mission until next week." Darek slammed his fist into a railing. "He lied. He's Dredgen Truth. Do you have anyone who knows him that would help us Zavala?" "One of Ikora's hidden is here tonight. You should ask Ikora for his help. And, Teren had a lot of friends in the Hidden. Including Ikora. Just be prepared." They ran off toward Ikora. Darek began preparing himself for the eventual confrontation with Teren. Maybe prematurely, but he started anyway. They reached Ikora in less than a minute. Which isn't saying much because she was close to where they already were. "Ikora, Teren's Dredgen Truth." "Do you have proof?" "Not hard evidence but… he told us he was going on a patrol but he has no registered patrols in the vanguard database. He used a term I only ever read in one of Truths speeches. And I have a suspicion." "So you're asking me to help you find Teren, on a hunch that he's Dredgen Truth." "Ikora I know it seems hard to believe but. He helped me become a guardian after I was resurrected. I wouldn't come to ask you for help to track him down without reason." "Alright, I'll ask Zach to help you. He'll meet you in the hangar, use the departure computer and check what his alignment was when he left atmosphere. That should tell you where he went." "Alright. Thank you Ikora." "Good luck Kryn. And to you Darek." ----------------------------------------------- "Darek the departure computer says he was oriented toward Saturn. Where would he go there?" "There's not much of importance that I know of. There's Titan or the Dreadnought as far as I'm concerned." "So where do we go?" "Titan, the sensors there might have picked up where he was headed when he entered the area. Ready the ship, I'm gonna find Zach." Kryn ran toward the ship. Darek turned slowly in a circle until he found a Warlock pushing his way through a group of technicians. He wore armor that appeared to be made of scavenged pieces of old Cabal Dust Giant armor. His face was harsh and angular but unscarred. "You're Darek." "Yes, that's my ship over there." I pointed at it. "Kryn is starting it up." I started to walk towards it but he put a hand on my shoulder to stop me. "You're sure Darek." "Yes." The look in his eyes told me that he was saddened by the news. "Can we bring him back alive?" "I don't know." At this he removed his hand and started sprinting towards the ship. When we took off from the hangar and were en route to Titan we went into a central room to prepare our weapons. Zach took a scout rifle off a sling that was hanging around him. It had something glowing blue in the center and lots of wires plugged into seemingly random places. It had a sight with a hinge on it so it could flip between the scope and a reflex sight. He flipped a switch on its side and it started humming, it also sparked at multiple wire connections. "Is that thing safe?" Zach looked at me, "not at all. But that's not the point." He then took a rectangle of folded metal rods and strings off of the second and last sling he had. It slowly formed into a bow as he unfolded it. The thing was massive for what it folded into. He picked up a small box that he had set down upon coming in and attached it to a slot in his armor. "What's that?" "A transmat receiver wired into my armor. It transmats an arrow straight into my hand." As he said this an arrow that was painted a bright red appeared in his hand. " What kind of arrow is that?" "Incendiary." "Don't drop it." "Right." "You guys ready yet, it takes me about two seconds but you're not done after five minutes. Zach answered, "I'm done, but it would be faster if curious here would save his questions for later." "Okay then, let's get a move on. Zach you… do whatever you do. Kryn, land us near the command center.
