you finish reading a great book and then you pick up a different book and the book is not as good, so it feels hard to stay hooked in, even though you know if you had read this book before the other, you would have loved it?

1 ReplyThe benefit of being dumb is not being able to tell when a book is good or bad, so I don’t really have that problem. It can be hard going between different writing styles, though.

5 RepliesIt definitely sucks but if I feel that way I switch up what I'm reading. I usually only get to feeling like that when I finish a big epic story(usually a series). So I switch the something more light hearted. Then after that I'm able to jump into something bigger without issue

1 ReplyI've known that experience all too well. I seriously hate it when that happens.
-
1 ReplyYeah, but then there's those times when you read a bad book, so then the next good book you read gets better because you've lowered your expectations
-
2 RepliesI hate it when you read something cool in a book, then something horrible happens and you can't enjoy the cool scene as much. I'm talking to you, "Debt of Honor" and "The Running Man".
-
4 RepliesYea like I wasn’t able to pick up a series for 5 years because of that haha
-
1 ReplySame effect with video games
-
1 ReplyThat's the downside of reading a great book :/ I hate it when it's a cracking read all the way through, and they rush the ending.
-
1 ReplySometimes when finishing a great book I feel like lost, don’t want to leave that world, don’t know where to go after it

1 ReplyEdited by abearjo: 11/21/2019 4:18:45 PMYes, also when you read a series, and then a new book comes out after like, a year, and you have to remember everything from the previous books.

1 ReplyYep, quite often as well.

13 RepliesIf it's Brandon Sanderson or a book that interests me, I'll spend more time reading than playing video games.

5 RepliesYes. I also hate when I get to the final book in a series and it's just not hooking me into it and I just cant seem to find the urge to finish. I have yet to finish Stephen Kings Dark Tower series because I just cannot get through the final book.

1 ReplyI feel your pain. Though normally I'd put it aside, Then try reading it again in a month's time. (≧艸≦*)

1 ReplyA friend of mine always used to read something like Don Pendleton's Executioner series between standard books. He called it a "palate cleanser."

1 ReplyMalazan book of the fallen and the wheel of time. Check them out. You’re welcome.

3 RepliesSame problems with Light novels for me...

3 RepliesI hadn't put it to words, but I think that's exactly what I'm going through right now. Even though the books I'm set to read are by one of my favorite authors, it just doesn't compare to the last few things I read (which was a mini Tolkien marathon through the Silmarillion and Lost Tales).
