Maybe it's just me and this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't understand why Bungie focused so much on Finishers.
I mean, the first week of Shadowkeep I used them like everyone else, but then I've found myself use them less often and right now I'm not using them at all. I see no purpose or advantage to use them, expecially now that I've reached a Power around 950 I can basically stomp almost everything just with my guns like I've always did before...
I know that there is a specific Mod that allows to obtain Heavy Ammos with a Finisher, which is pretty cool, but it costs like 7 Energy Slots and I can think many ways to use them in a better way with other Mods.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I feel like that Final Blows wasn't a really good idea, they sound like, you know, something cool but actually not really usefull.

You can play pinball with servitors.
-
Because it is something else they can MONETIZE in EV. You get a base and legendary finisher, but have to buy them from EV for real world cash if you want something else.
-
Because you can buy new ones for 8 dollars each on eververse
-
Good way to conserve Ammo
-
If they counted as melee damage that would be a huge improvement. Would work great with many exotics
-
I like em. They’re fun and add some cool flair to a good fight. I especially like them bc of the new hunter exotic helmet, which grants invisibility with a finisher kill.
-
It’s useful using that new hunter helmet. Helps with survivability a lot
-
A lot of the mods for them can be really nice.
-
They are very useful for orange and yellow bars, and any shielded large red enemy. I find that in say the vex offensive, strikes, and gambit, the high profile enemies you will always get to a sliver. In some instances due to glitching they may even regen particularly Minotaurs. The finishers come in so well here because you can effectively close the gap and get rid of these sponge enemies quickly. If you run the health regen mod you can literally just kick your way through an activity.
-
I think that they're just supposed to be fun and spice up the gameplay a bit
-
There useful in high power level end game content (eg. finishing off a champion before they put up their barrier and heal again). Not super useful in most cases, but I look at them as a way to break up the monotony of sending a 1000 rounds into a bullet sponge yellow bar.
-
Well it's a guarantee kill! How many times has an enemy had a bee's dick of health and your melee doesn't dispatch them?? Cuts out some unexpected suprises at least!!
-
I want them to make a dry hump or skull F*ck finisher lol.
-
TBF they’re pretty useful on champions and it’s fun to spin kick an ogre from time to time
-
There is actually a wide variety of finisher mods you can use. I don't use the super so much so having an alternate use for super energy is good. Damagewise, it is actually pretty good against yellow bars. And it positively promotes aggressive play instead of sitting back sniping. Now, if I could get a finisher mod that'd make the enemy blow up like Firefly...

Edited by Jdniscool: 10/21/2019 11:56:50 AMI love finishers. I’ve been asking for Halo-esqe assassinations since Destiny 1.
-
Fun, useful mods and allow you to save ammo on some yellow bars.
-
More of a money grab. They are slow, not even linked to the melee button and you can die in the animation (tested a few times), you even hit the enemy with a regular punch as part of the animation. An easy bounty otherwise
-
Maybe a build up for exotic finishers, requires 3/4 super energy: Void Warlock: sucks the life out of the enemy, restoring health and target explodes. Solar Titan: whips out the hammer, smashes enemy to a pulp and creates a wave that weakens nearby enemies, any enemy death results in a sunspot. Arc Hunter: takes out Arc staff, sticks it in the ground and shocks nearby enemies and yourself which gives a damage increase to any equipped Arc weapon.
-
Yeah. I thought finishers were crap at first when you are doing story/solo content but once you do more challenging activities they have a place. Not game changing but not useless. I do wish thar you gained immunity while in a finisher or grant an over shield
-
Edited by ToRni27: 10/21/2019 1:39:34 PMThey help you to kill enemies on 950 and 980 ordeal nightfalls. You don't need them on medicore activites because enemies die quick anyways. But if you play end game activities a finisher is quicker to take your enemy down as if you would shoot on them. Have fun!
-
Isn’t there a bundle of animations for like $25 from eververse? Yeah, that’s probably the main reason why.
-
They were meant to be just more flayer added in. A cool thing you can do to finish our enemies. I think its fairly innocuous and can sometimes be a little helpful (finishing a boss ad like a champion to save a few power or special rounds and healing off of it is pretty nice in pinnacle activities) but really its just another little pointless things that doesn't hurt anyone that they can add to Eververse.

Final blows means kills not finishers...
-
On red bar and orange bar enemies, the Finisher health threshold is about the same as how much health a normal melee takes away. On yellow bars, like lost sector bosses, the Finisher threshold is actually higher than the damage dealt by a normal melee. This means that a Finisher actually does more damage than a melee. Another benefit is that Finishers have a lot more range than melee. Finishers also ignore elemental shields, so you can still OHK that wizard that got behind cover with a sliver of health and regenerated its shield.
