that is because you are using your psn save. If it was on any other save you would not see your gear or progress.

I relogin selecting steam on the app It's still the same. How can I swap to steam in the app then?

You cant. You would have to disable cross save. (doing so will trigger a 90 day reactivation cool down)

So to sum it up All cross save does is enable my default psn characters to be playable on pc My characters still reside in psn account If I want to find players on fireteam lfg in the companion app, even if I changed to steam from settings, the app still will have errors from the auto invite function and has to wait for bungie to fix it?

Many thanks for responding. I didn't know lfg fireteam app now is pending for bungie to fix for the cross save players. I thought I made errors in doing the x save. Is there any work around for the app lfg fireteam other than manually adding as friend then invite from friend list?

Make sure your fireteam settings make them open to the public. Open up the chat window by pressing Enter. Type in “/id” (without the quotation marks), and the game will show you your Steam ID. Copy that number and send it to the other person(s). The ones joining should type “/join” (without the quotation marks), followed by the Steam ID of the person hosting.
