I worked for a semiconductor manufacturer (they were owned 50/50 by Toshiba and IBM and made mostly memory, including the PS1. Still the best company I ever worked for) Anyway, 9/11 happened and a lot of markets tanked, including technology. 1st Toshiba pulled out. The president was a Toshiba guy so IBM hired some schmuck from I forget where but he was horrible and a cut a lot of things to save $. Then IBM decided to bail and sold to a company called Micron who were even bigger assholes (they don't believe in giving yearly raises and other things) The new president IBM hired sent out this email which was so cringey the way he kissed Micron's ass (they were already in trouble with the government for certain practices) and rambled on and on about how wonderful they were and would be so honored to have the opportunity to work for them. I had a friend in the Tool Crib, which were contractors so they didn't get this email. I thought I'd forward it to him and put 'in other words please don't fire me!!! LOL' Later in the shift it hit me I never typed his name/email in...... It turned out I didn't hit forward, I hit reply!!! Micron eventually took over, got a bunch of tax breaks and other incentives, got the county to pay for all this work.... Then a couple months later sent most of the machines to a plant of theirs in Taiwan and laid pretty much everybody off.

  • When I was a kid, I had this huge crush on a girl. We hing out and flirted a lot, it was super obvious I liked her, and from her actions and from what her friends said, I really though she liked me too. Like I was positive it was a sure thing. So one day we had this conversation about the cutest/best/most romantic ways to ask a girl out. The subtext was not subtle. It was basically me saying "Im going tobask you out" and her saying "If you asked me out in this way, I'd totally say yes" She told me that the way that woukd make her heart melt the most was if a guy went to the trouble to be her secret admirer. She went into detail about how much that would win her over, so instead of just asking her out on the spot, which is what I shoukdbhabe done, I decided I'd wait and be her secret admirer. If courae she woukd knkw it was me. I mean, we just had a big converaation abiut it. But how cute was it going to be when she mentioned to me that "someone" was her "secret" admirer, and id be all like "oh gee, i wonder who THAT could be?" So it went for a couple weeks, I was sending her little notes and gifts, prerty much thew way she'd deacribed what she wanted. The gifts werent expensive, just trinkets that represented binside jokes or things we both liked. A couple mixtapes too. Well, we didnt get any of thise cute moments I'd imagined, and when i finall did the "reveal" and asked her out, she wasn't as enthusiastic as I'd imagined she would be. I mean, she said yes to go on a date with me, so that was alright. Setting up the date never went well. She was always busy or something so i kinda stopped asking. Later, I ran into her randomly as she was talking with a friend. I said hi, and she seemed happy to see me. The friend she qas talking to (a guy) said to her "oh, is THIS that guy that was sending you-" She immediately turned to him, hit him in the stomach, and gave him a look and a "shhhh! Shut up!" Under her breath. The guy then put his arm around her and extendes his hand ti me to shake hands, saying "Hi. I'm Steve, her boyfriend. Nice to meet you." Since slowly fading away and disssapearing from the lives of anyone who knew about this situation, I have never talked about it. I can't imagine anything cringier.

    • I was at a wedding recently, and the couple made it clear not to bring children but the DJ didn't realize it so halfway through the dance he said "this one is for all the kids!" Then started playing Baby Shark. Everyone left the dancefloor and it was completely empty for the duration of the song.

    • Was recently at the museum with some family. I was looking at the animal exhibit & there was a mum & her young son behind me. She said to her son something along the lines of “Let’s go to the fish exhibit. You know what that means.” They then both proceeded to sing Baby Shark.

      • My time has come... I was in...probably 5th grade, riding the bus after school. Almost all seats were taken, so I had to stand, my backpack was on the floor. At some point, the bus brakes harder than usual and my backpack falls over. Due to the fall, my bottle, which was “secured” on the outside of my backpack, opened and proceeded to spill apple juice all over the floor of the bus (the floor under the seats was slightly elevated though). Here comes the actual cringe: No one said a thing. It’s not like no one saw it, there was a noticeable noise when the bottle opened (because of the carbonation releasing) and the spill traveled through 3/4 of the bus. I was shocked, but didn’t know how to act, so I said nothing. This happened almost immediately after the bus left the school, so for the entire 20min journey to my bus stop, no one said anything about it. So I just stand there, unable to respond, knowing I sorta screwed up this bus. I can’t really explain how terrible that was. Long story short: I just left the bus without telling the driver and nothing ever came from that.

          • There was this new kid from the deep South in our middle school. He would constantly pick fights with people, be sent to the assistant principal office (We all called it getting "Sposted", after the last name of the A.P), and harass many girls, espcially a close friend of mine. This close friend of mine (her name was Kylie) was very cute and thicc. I had and still have a crush on her. Appearlently so did the new kid. He would constantly harass her and even tried to grope her once. People told me not to tell the assistant principal about this, even as he was being a total annoyance to everyone. However, I eventually did that and told Spost everything I knew. A few months went by without knowing the consequences of my actions. Appearently, due to his (very) low grades, he was sent to summer school. He also never went near Kylie again, only glanced. I never told Kylie what I did, afraid that I would annoy her. I knew she was annoyed by her, but she wasn't doing anything about her. I think I prevented terrible things by doing what I did. What about the cringe part? The kid just makes me cringe, with his Fortnite obsession, immaturity and how he doesn't respect the girls in my school.

              • Well there was this one time I looked in the mirro- Wait... No wait, yeah So there was this one time I looked at the mirror. That’s my story. ;-;
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't, by subtracting where it is, from where it isn't, or where it isn't, from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance sub-system uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is, to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position where it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event of the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has required a variation. The variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too, may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computance scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is, however it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subracts where it should be, from where it wasn't, or vice versa. By differentiating this from the algebraic sum og where it shouldn't be, and where it was. It is able to obtain a deviation, and a variation, which is called "air"
• There was a recent advert with a strangely dressed gay guy possibly with make-up on (I don't remember the exact details I've tried to forget about it). Any way the the ad just had the guy pulling a face at the camera but I cringed everytime I saw. A few friends had the same issue.
