I had that happen to me in strike where you're going after the Cabal in the Infinite Forrest.
One guy quit out....and when the game replaced him...the blueberry that spawned in died and wiped the whole team.
Its is a long standing issue with strikes, and Bungie either can't----or won't---fix it. One of many reasons why playing with speedrunners is aggravating.
Because if they aren' running ahead and dying.....they're running ahead and despawning everything in front of people who actually want to shoot things and (gasp) play the game.

Also the murder hobos who pop supers and heavy to clear every group. I try to only kill what I need out of fodder when I am done I just do support things (rift, healing nade, lumina) and let the others work on theirs. A lot of the time, if I can, I will just load a nightfall and clear a lost sector for the "compete with allies" bounties. Either way, they need to stop making things kill dependent in team oriented modes so everyone can just play and not worry about needing to sprint ahead to actually get kills, sometimes I just want to admire the scenery.
