I feel sorry for Cozmo and dmg

Because the amount of toxicity and entitled complaining that come out of these forums is HORRIBLE. What will it take for some of you to be happy with this game? A free recluse? Free luna? And the most laughable thing I've seen out of here is people complaining that there is now a grind, you know, the thing that keeps players involved in the GAME! I'm very happy some of you are over here and not on reddit

  • There was a time before Destiny... heck even during the Destiny Beta... that the forums were not just anger. A time when real devs actually had real conversations about their game here. Now, literally months or years after requests for things to be fixed that are still broken, are responded to with corporate platitudes and bad design bromides... many just default into anger mode, or have slowly withdrawn.

  • 5 years later and there is still a load of problems, they haven't done shit... Never listen to the community, just reply with typed up responses handed to them by the bungie bosses.

  • They continuously make terrible decisions for their community with they're perpetual attempts to control how we play and keep us broke and mindlessly grinding for little to no rewards. Cosmo and dmg DO NOT directly deserve all the heat but Bungie as a whole needs to get the points players are making through their thick skulls and do something to make things better.

  • Nothing will make many of these people happy. They’re unhappy people, and what little joy they get involves making others unhappy.

    • ironically these forums are nothing like the players in-game, i joined up with some randoms yesterday to do last wish for the first time and we finished it within 5 hours without anyone leaving and everyone was pretty friendly, another batch was willing to help me do zero hour and was also pretty nice as well you psychopaths do not represent this community, no one uses these forums except cry babies and people with nothing better to do

    • I dont. They are community managers that hardly speak to the community. They deserve every bit of toxicity if you ask me.

    • People would be less salty if they communicated. They post maybe 5 times a week and it is basically the same generic copy and pasted responses

      • I wouldn’t feel sorry for them. They get paid well, to not even do their jobs. Writing one response and a twab, wish my boss would let me get away with doing so little. 40 hours a week, to write what? 1500 words? Them boys got it easier than a Sunday morning.

      • U make no sense. This is their job. Deej's too, but he seems content to keep his head down and try to pave a career as talk show host. I agree that they take more abuse than what they should, after all they are community managers and not devs, however the fact remains that they by and large have totally ignored their own forums for months and when they do feel like responding they ignore the hundreds of complaints and respond to people asking for a glimmer cap rise or out right lie. I read one comment complaining about the resource/material drain of the triumph hall where they said "people have been asking where they can spend their materials". No they haven't. No one has ever written a thread claiming they have too much dattalattice or bright dust. Maybe if it were baryon boughs i could see the point but no. This is why the forges are filled with dead 350 guardians for hours on end. So yeah, much of the stick they get is brought on themselves for ignoring the people they are employed to communicate with and, more so lately, just lying to us.

Why...? You get better customer service and clearer answers from a outsourced Comcast customer service rep, than you get from those two. Heck....half the time I have to ask the rep to repeat what they say, but atleast I still get an answer. These two hit the copy and paste macro 99% of the time. " Thanks for the feedback, we'll pass it on to the dev team "

              • You’re right, we should feel sorry for them. They do a difficult job and work really hard. So I’ll do a weeks worth of posts for them to help relieve some of the pressure.. “I’ll pass it on to the devs” “I’ll let the devs know” “I’ll make sure the devs are aware” You’re welcome.

                  • I don’t. I mean I would never insult anyone directly, by name, but there are some monumentally bad design decisions that absolutely deserve to and should be criticized.

                    • Lol its their job. They can quit if they don’t like it. They are adults, not highschool kids in a “safe zone”. Their job is to respond to consumer feedback, including criticism towards the development teams. If players feel like bungie is not listening to them, then the PR reps are at fault. World isn’t a nice place, people need to be held accountable, and the fanboys can deal with it.

                    • Back then, the community wasnt so bad. Seeing it now disappoints me, and as a veteran player, it goes to show that some are better than most when it comes to this kind of behavior.

                    • The contrast between the forums and what's happening in game is bonkers. I regularly team up with random groups for nightfalls or raids and everyone is always pretty happy and we chat about what's new in the game and what was fun, etc.. I have no idea where these forum people come from.

Voicing complaints is not toxic. Being little asshats calling the people at Bungie lazy, talentless shrews because we don't get a content update every other week is. While I won't deny there is quite a bit of toxicity in this fan base, the bulk of the perceived toxicity is people voicing their complaints in maybe a not-so-nice way. Cosmo and dmg are good people just doing their job. I don't fault them for the game's shortcomings considering they're basically (or as far as I know) just the PR guys. They help the public maintain contact with the actual development team. I DO blame people like Luke Smith, Mark Noseworthy, and so on, because they have a good amount of creative pull on the game, but don't really run with it. Forsaken, Rise of Iron, and The Taken King, are examples of them running with it. Curse of Osiris was like watching a limp horse trying to trudge through quicksand and Warmind was like watching the same horse, but with its leg bandaged horribly. I know they care about the game, and I know they CAN deliver, as things like Forsaken prove. I don't expect them to bring that level of content every update, but I would like them to carry the same philosophies. In this, I mean while every update doesn't need a metric shit ton of things to do, they do need at least one notable gameplay shakeup to keep things fresh. In TTK, that was the light level rework and the addition of swords. In Rise of Iron, that was in the Memory of the Iron Lord artifacts, and in Forsaken, it was the complete revamp of the weapon sytem and the addition of bows. If we could just keep this type of evolution going, Destiny could really be something.

I also feel bad for the staff and moderating team. This community is atrocious. Voicing complaints is fine people. But the message is in the delivery. Nobody is going to listen to your opinion that's filled with ridicule.
