Bruh, this argument has no valid point on your end. If your favorite MW weapon is say 720. You get a new gun at 730. You can keep that 730 weapon on your guardian and your new gear that drops WILL drop higher. Once you get a 750 weapon to drop, put it into your favorite MW weapon. You spend the fewest amount of cores to achieve this. Another way around is say your Duke mk. 44 is your MW weapon at LL 720. A duke drops at 730... it only costs glimmer to infuse the 730 into your 720. Exotics also cost 0 or 1 MW core. Hope I save you some cores.
