Shaders on Exotic Weapons
As the title states, Bungie can we have shaders on exotic weapons?
When it doesn't have an ornament let a shader be optional.
If this isn't an option because people would do that instead of buying ornaments, then could you make it possible with Silver?
Just an idea, I would really like to add shaders to them because they look amazing with them.
Edit: Silver because having shaders will probably stop people from buying the ornaments. As much as I don't like the silver economy, I understand they need revenue because they are on their own now. Another option would be bright dust to be the currency.

I don't think the argument for "exotic weapon ornaments will stop selling" is valid, because we have exotic armour ornaments *with* shader application. The same should apply for weapons, in my opinion. This will increase the number of customisation possibilities!

5 Repliesif you equip an exotic primary and preview a shader it will apply it to the weapon so the work is already done we just don't have the option to do it. maybe they plan on it being part of an update.

They could but they would get more money out of people by just selling reshades (aka ornaments) then allowing us to customise our weapons with whatever colour we choose even if they did charge silver for the option to. Cause why have us pay one time to customise our weapons when they can charge us multiple times for different shades on the same weapon?

Im sure it would be possible since previewing a shader also shows the exotic weapon with the shader

Yes please. It should be pretty easy to do anyway, since when you preview a shader it applies it to your exotic kinetic weapon anyway.

What I really love is that you can see exotics with shaders on them when you inspect a shader while looking at your whole character... sweet Business looks awesome with some shaders

2 RepliesI think about this a lot (What else do you do while loading on Console?) and honestly I can't really see how allowing shaders on weapons might detract from potential sales of ornament bundles. There's two reasons I think this: (1) Most of the exotic weapon ornaments in the game are free/not locked behind a Silver bundle. (2) The majority of the exotic weapon ornaments either (A) provide a colour palette swap unavailable via any shader in the game or (B) alter the items visual mesh ranging from a colour palette swap + mesh change to a complete model swap. Just take for example the new Menagerie weapon set ornaments. They are a prime example of this. So long as the ornament itself provides something unattainable with shaders, whether that is a unique colour scheme or model swap, the ornaments will still have value. I would even suggest that they might have [i]more[/i] value if shaders could be applied to them.

They could do shaders with ornaments, just like with the armors. When we preview shaders it even shades the exotic we are holding as well. Outbreak Prime looks pretty cool with certain shaders.....

I could actually see/enjoy this some of the ornaments are just boring shaders bring much more to the table.

The idea I’ve had is to find a middle ground by converting large amounts of Bright Dust [i]info[/i] Silver.

They show up on Kinetic Weapons when you preview a shader in your inventory. Izanagi’s with Calus’s Treasured looks really cool.

You can put shaders on exotic armor but not weapons? Yeah it seems like a reasonable request. You can inspect a shader when you have an exotic weapon equipped to see what it would look like, now just let us apply it

The only reason I disagree with this idea is because a lot of exotic ornaments don’t do much else other than changing the color of the gun.

Or have the ornaments on and still can apply the shaders for the color of the weapon and not have to spend silver 👍
