Why Do People Not Raid?

Why do many of you guys not raid and avoid it like the plague, I even see some of you saying bungie shouldnt make the content simply because a lot of players dont play it. Why dont you try raiding? This isnt to attack people who dont or to attack casual players, as someone who plays this game for raiding I am just curious as to why some dont like them? Edit: So most of you seem the think raiders are all toxic, its just not the case, some of you see someone post KWTD and think they are toxic when in reality KWTD means watch a video and have an idea of whats going on and we can help you from there. Most raiders will help you if you ask and are willing to learn. If you dont like current LFGs that are up make your own. I cleared CoS by joining a raid team that was just NA CoS Fresh 730+, a handful of people didnt know what to do and the rest of the team taught them and we cleared it. If you want you can also wait and look for Sherpas, they are more rare but they exist to help you, I commonly post Levi sherpas or join people who post that its their first time. When you are upfront about being new and wanting to learn, the non toxic helpful people will come to you. Some of you said its complicated, its not, its a challenge and you have to be willing to lean it but its not at all over complicated. Theres lots of valid reasons posted but just assuming every raider is toxic is not a valid one because its just not true. Edit 2: A good suggestion made by logan678910 65 is to have a casual and hardcore raiding section for LFG, that would honestly be a great thing because then all those who think youll get toxic hardcore players can know that anyone joining your lfg in the casual section is also just wanting to have fun. Edit 3: If you think LFG is so toxic, post your own lfg, its not hard, ask for sherpas, ask for help, make it clear you want to be taught, otherwise you just look like you are trying to get carried. There are plenty of sherpas if you are just patient. Edit 4: If you are on PC and you want to raid and be shown it is in fact not toxic and that there are people who will teach you then add me Zoe41#1700. I will gladly teach anyone who is willing to learn, I wont carry you so dont come expecting me to do that, you are going to have to learn.

  • It's not toxic it's just some people have the time to teach n some people have limited time. There is raid etiquette as well. 1. Be high enough light and have a reasonable loadout 2. If you are new then say so and then listen to advice bc you are new. 3. Don't be annoying especially if you are new. You should be shutting up and listening. 4. Watch a video at least before you lfg. 5. Have enough time to finish the raid. 6. Don't go afk constantly. Basically be honest, prepared, and take the raid seriously. If you do this you will avoid 99% of "toxicity".

  • Clan died, tried getting into another but everything is run through discord. I'm an oldie who sticks to this app so only use this lfg, and we all see the requirements. I play mainly on the weekend (work) so I'm usually late to the party.

I usually stay away because most people are reluctant to teach or explain mechanics and won't team up with someone who's new to the content.

    • I raid less and less due to the time it takes. I do not have 1-2 hours per checkpoint due to players that come in below the light cap (but they can” hold their own”, right?). Who do not kwtd despite joining a kwtd group then call others elitists for pointing it out. Players that need everything explained and still go for the “it’s ok, I can clear ads” light duty. Players that have a mechanism explained to them half a dozen times and then proceed to do the exact opposite.., then they get upset when it’s pointed out. Elitists I rarely bump Into, I don’t join their groups. Scrubs... scrubs are why I raid less and less. I don’t do paid carries, it’s not my job to get you through.

Over the past three weeks I've raided about a dozen times, nearly all of them Sherpa runs. The idea that raiders are toxic boggles the mind. Maybe there are a ton of toxic folks organizing raids in LFG, but that's hardly representative of the community as a whole. I don't want to go all clan recruitment, but if you want to learn how to raid in a supportive, non-toxic environment check out Shrouded Gaming. You can get the info looking at my clan details. We organize Sherpa raids every week, for all raid activities, for all platforms, for all US and EU timezones, and we don't allow KWTD raid requirements within the community at all.

          I don't care. - old

I love to raid, but I'll only raid with my friends/clan. People get easily turned off from raiding when the majority of the LFG groups are a bunch of a-holes. Nty.

Toxicity is also a perception. If you think I’m toxic because I get mad that you’re trying to coast through a raid clueless while not attempting to get better or learn, sorry, you’re the toxic one to the group. I keep everything in mind of the group. I’m not willing to sacrifice group progress for an uncaring individual. I say this because I’ve been accused of this for this reason. I’ll guide you, but there’s no free rides in raids. You have to contribute or at least give honest effort (or we’ll wipe). It’s easy to tell when someone expects a carry.

              • I've seen quite a number of replies on this topic saying that people are not as willing to help in D2 as they were in D1, or that the good sherpas don't play D2, or that the raids are now too complex. If you would like my reasons as a D1 raid sherpa for not running as many D2 raids. It's that there is no longer a huge content drought. We want our loot! (Like everyone else) And because of the awful RnG in this game we are busy grinding for that elusive piece of gear right up until the next content or season drop. I understand that the long content droughts in D1 were an issue for many, but they were the times us raid sherpas were busy, nothing left to do? Rubbish there were hundreds of people that wanted to learn/have a go at the raids. We want our loot! Is a huge issue in this game, it's not worth doing because the loot is boring or not good enough. It's not WORTH doing it at all, it's a game, it's sole purpose is entertainment, you wouldn't not go to a movie because no one was handing out cake at the end for watching it! We want our loot! Is why there are so many "toxic" posts. It's all now about the fastest way to getting that reward! "Riven cheese KWTD" OMG that is the funniest of all the posts and an example of what the game has now produced. Bungie: In my opinion the game needs to be less of a grind, let us earn all the gear without having to run Nightfall for instance 87 times before the gun we want drops! A gap between content drops is okay! It gives some players time to catch up, and in those quite times the sherpas can go back to work. Community: We need to realise this is not a job, nor our education, it is an fact nothing but a form of entertainment, chill out, help others out where needed. But most importantly, don't take it all so seriously, if things in this GAME are triggering you in a negative way, look at yourself, maybe take a break. This is meant to be fun!

                • No good raid weapons. D1 VOG and Crota Raid Weapons were the main reason to go. VOG and Crota were my favorite Raid..It was fun and hilarious. Did many Raids in D1. 3 characters per week. Multiple Raids per characters per week...just to help other players and having fun talking joking during Raids Everyday always had multiple group in our Dad of Destiny clans playing it..! Y3 D1 was not so much..Destiny Raid become more jumping puzzle rather than fun shooting or blowing thing. It become more focus on HardCore players...people playing with stress...no joking around anymore. Bungie should focus to provide contents that Fun for Majority of players. Not Just for those that play 24/7. Menagerie is the best approach. Let players learn how to do raid. The weapons still not very good. They should go back to D1 weapon slot style. Primary, Special and Heavy. Raid Primary will have burn. Those weapons will make us feel powerful doing regular task.

                • The only reason I no longer raid is because my core raiding group seems to have disappeared and I haven't sat down to find a new one. My raiding experience has typically been pretty great, and I highly recommend it. I met some of my best friends in this game through raids. I know that raiding probably seems like a really sweaty activity for more casual players but I promise you, once you learn the ropes it's not much harder then doing a strike as long as you're focused, and that rush when you and your group beat a boss is pretty great. Also, to those saying "I shouldn't have to watch a video/streamer/guide to know how to raid" you don't, most groups I've been a part of, at least, are willing to teach you. That said, as someone who's played multiple MMO's, having at least a passing idea of what to do in a raid is considered a courtesy in any game, not just Destiny, because these can turn into slogs if you don't. On a related note, if anyone's looking for a decently skilled and friendly Hunter to add to their raiding group, hit me up, I'm currently looking to start CoS, as well as go back and finally do LW and SotP

                • Only reason I don’t raid in D2 is because my life changed (hello, fatherhood). I hope to jump into them at some point. With armor 2.0 coming out, I’m especially hoping to jump into them for more relevant loot.

                • I could never get a consistent group. I don't mind raiding with different people each time, but taking 2 to 3 hours to do a raid over and over again gets tiring. Haven't really raided since EOW. Ended up out of the clan I was in after I burned out and stop playing, and haven't bothered to lfg. Now that I'm back playing, I do feel like I'm missing out a little, but not enough to make me want to do something about it.

                • For me it was two reasons. 1. My last clan wasnt active and most of the LFG posts are KWTD and I have 0 raids done so I didnt want to get in the way of people trying to get it done quick. 2. I play mornings GMT so not that many people around in the first place. Now I joined a super active clan with over 700 members and tomorrow I will do my first raid (Leviathan). I hope it goes well and we can keep on doing it but now I finally have a team and a sherpa on my timezone.

Because the casuals can't handle actual effort and/or avoid playing with others then because for their own personal reasons.

The mechanics are way over the top and are just tedious... I will raid a few times to get what I want from the raid but I dont find D2 raids fun... due to the tedious mechanics...D1 raids were fun had the right balance.

                  • Honnestly i saved the raids for when my friends came back to d2 but then they didnt stay around and now its sort of a mix of im a little scared ill be rusty making me a detriment to the team and the times when ive actually looked for a raid team to get back into it i saw nothing but have X+ clears which i have none of. I used to raid heaps in d1 even used to solo crota for something to do back in the drought but ive just sorta stopped raiding now, although i think im gonna study the raids and try to get back into it.

                  • I’ve done all the raids since d1. I can truly say it’s much harder finding groups than it used the be. Here we are second week and most raid groups say “kwtd” which is fine I complete understand it’s annoying to have to teach people but at the second week really?? And no “kwtd” does not mean watch a video. It means exactly what it says it does know what to do as if you’ve done it before. I’ve been in plenty of groups that say “kwtd” for other raids and they do either bash the new guy or kick them. I love destiny raids but with what bungies done with the minagerie and all these second week “kwtd” groups I could definitely see raids slowly disappearing. Some people actually have jobs that make up a good portion of the raid community and still haven’t done it and with the posts I see on lfg new completions will only slowly trickle in.

Because it's a hard task for most people. If we are being honest it got nothing to do with lfg as people could make there own groups and just want carries. Most just aren't good enough and won't communicate properly and so they get frustrated and leave. The same people that complain about group requirements are the ones who refuse to make their own groups or don't raid. I've done hundreds of raids and taught loads of players since D1 and it's pretty obvious quickly who is there to have a laugh and get stuff done and those who just want to get carried.

                  • Time personally. In D1 I just used to stay up late and struggle at work. After buying a home and things in general changing I just like to jump on after work and do the odd crucible. The menagerie however is a fantastic hybrid of a raid though. I've only done two runs but have enjoyed each run greatly. Being able to forge a weapon, guarantee a masterwork, but have the rolls as random is a really really good way to do it.

                  • I hardly raid as I just find them so boring. Done a few hundred in d1 but leviathan and lairs are imo terrible. Last wish I actually enjoy has a bit of d1 feel to it the one after that I watched and was like na this don't look great did it with my clan as they where desperate for one extra and I'll never touch it again was terrible and the new raid looks OK tbf but haven't tried it as I just can't be bothered lol
