Collect the menagerie triumphs. They give imperials. You need those to upgrade the chalice. Once you’ve bought the upgrade the menagerie will be accessible again.

Already did, cause after beating first time I had to do that and from that moment I have 1 upgrade at power and over 12 runes(too lazy to count)
