Want to get D1 Collectors Edition for PS4 but I’m afraid to because of expired codes.

So I played D1 up to the first DLC (before TTK). Anyways I’d like to possibly return but I’m seeing people talking about expired codes. And as early as this month. https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/bqxluc/bought_destiny_1_new_with_all_dlc_but_codes/ And before DragonWithin replies, understand that DLC codes to my knowledge are a retailer’s responsibility if the code comes straight from them (ie a receipt or email). If the code is on the slip of paper in the case wouldn’t it be Bungie’s problem? Anyways. If I buy a brand new copy of D1 collectors edition will the code still work or does bungie only activate an expired code if someone reaches out? It’s kind of insane this is happening when Bungie said it was fixed? Maybe they only fixed the codes of those who let them know?? https://mobile.twitter.com/bungiehelp/status/949447096393805824 Wish someone from bungie can answer this. I don’t want to pay full price for the digital version. ALSO: Let’s say the code works, I downloaded the first DLC a long time ago on PSN. Will it just skip downloading the first DLC and go on to the rest?

In addition to what O E r i e n a O said, if you're just after the bonuses that'd you'd gain by the DLCs for the collector's edition, you'll want to purchase the digital collector's edition upgrade from the Playstation Store. Yes, all codes for Destiny 1 physical copies will be expired, even the collector's edition. There have been some reports that some codes that slipped through Sony's own expiration system and were still valid to use, but those are definitely a hiccuppy exception, not an expectation; you are extremely unlikely to buy any physical copy of Destiny 1 (any version) and have valid DLC codes for any content included. So, with that knowledge, on PS4, you'll want to buy Destiny: The Collection (to get all the DLC up through Rise of Iron) and then the upgrade mentioned above. Both together will give you the Collector's Edition content as well as all DLCs (including Rise of Iron***). Destiny: The Collection : https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP0002-CUSA00219_00-DSTCOLLECTION001 Destiny: Digital Collector's Edition Upgrade: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP0002-CUSA00219_00-DESTINYTTKCEUPGR (You may need to adjust the "en-us" country code if you're not in the US for the links; it should auto-direct you to the proper page though if you just re-select your country after clicking the link) ***It should be noted that the Collector's Edition only went up through TTK; there was no Collector's Edition for Rise of Iron, so if you got the Collector's Edition and the codes worked, you would still have needed to purchase Rise of Iron separately to have the most out of your Destiny 1 experience on PS4.

    • There’s no guarantee you will find a D1 collectors edition that does not have expired codes. If it does have expired codes, then it is up to the retailer to replace, Bungie does not replace those. So it’s either take a risk, or just buy it digitally which is safer and faster. Codes just unlock the license for you to download the content, you won’t download content you already own.
