TWAB Question: Power Surge Quest (Bungie please respond)

We have a limited time frame of 6 hours from patch to raid launch to prepare for the raid. Most of us prepping for the raid are 700 power, and ostensibly the power surge quest that is mandatory will only award 690 gear. How long will it take? What are the quest steps? Is it awarding powerful gear, or is it just a waste of time for 690+ players?

  • It's the introductory mission for the Raid which doubles as a Power Surge bounty for those who want to play the Raid immediately who are not 690 power. It'll probably take around 15-20 minutes. Everyone has to do this step, so it's hardly a "waste of time". It's just a mission that unlocks the Raid, with some benefits to those under 690 power.

    • Day 1 raid plyers going for the raid first will have a modifier added to limit your power level for each stage of the raid with the first part at 700 power. You need to do the quest to get access to the raid but the race to get your power up is lessened and skill, teamwork and problem solving becoming more important.

      • It'll probably be something quirky like - do a strike - do a PvP - do a Gambit - do a patrol - yay, go do a raid

        • I doubt it’ll be more than an hour. Finish it on your first character and you’ll be done with it on your other 2

          • And how long do we have for a "day one" completion? Do we get 6 hours less (18 hours) because of the time the raid launches?

I'm guessing it's the replacement for drifter bounties for those under 690 and will give them a boost faster than slogging through boring bounties. Like drifter bounties it will be pointless for players at 700, but it will also throttle your time so you can't start leveling over 700 while they are still not 690. It had better not take longer than 30 minutes to complete, the second Atlantis drops for AC Odyssey on the 4th too and if the destiny quest is bullsh1t I personally will be switching to Odyssey immediately. The quest is to pad out player time so day 1 figures look great, let's be honest figures are dire at the moment, even destiny tracker removed player figures earlier
