So why do poeple use non-singe subclasses in Strikes?

I've done quite a few strikes with alot of people not using the weekly element singe for their subclass, I guess its because its they're favorite or its the optimal for the strike?

  • They're being edgy. I however am on a time schedule and cannot be bothered with wasting extra time mowing down hoardes of AI bad guys. Yeah, who am I kidding. Your game play the way you want.

  • Void kills don’t count towards the 1000 arc kills or the solar ability kills I need for bounties and quests. Worry about your own game. As long as I’m carrying my share of the load, what I’m running really isn’t your concern.

Because the damage boost from singe is so minuscule, you’re better off using what you enjoy. If it was burn on the other hand then I’d bother switching.

  • If they went back to a more powerful "Burn" then I would. Singe doesn't feel any more powerful than what my current setup is, so I don't bother. Only time I change is for the NF/100k.

  • I have your answers. Yes! Plural. Bounties that seem to never match the element for the week. Highest power level gear, of which also probably dictates the super. The +1 power drops seem to be effected by what you actually have equipped. Happened to me Tuesday since I was wearing my void build... all my milestones dropped under my actual power level. Quests, but there are no specific scenarios currently. Triumphs.. completionist that are bored and just getting things done. People who do not care. There is no advantage in the current state of strikes. Our power level is far above the strikes power ceiling. Then, like you stated, maybe people are committed to certain builds/elements. Easiest way to not worry about it... just switch to match the player that is playing as a team.

  • Some are just doing the daily, and don't care what they have

  • I play with whatever I think will be most fun. Or, if I need strikes just for the powerful gear, I’ll match one of my teammate’s subclass.

It used to be called a burn and you really noticed an advantage, now it makes barely any difference at all. The only place it makes a noticeable difference is when using a nightfall modifier card because you can dial the burn up yourself.

      • Sub-class specific to singe does not matter, weapons are arguably a better consideration. Ultimately the skill and/or comfort level with one tends to be the better argument. I never pay attention to the singe and just stick with what I like. Only thing I may do is if I am trying for the matched element for powerful gear or for a specific bounty, and those only matter briefly then back to preferred approach.

      • Some cases, such as Well in void singe, for example. The dps of well would out do a nova. Plus the added heals is nice. Same goes with the other support supers (sorry hunters, not as strongly applied to you). I have my phoenix robes, and have a near endless well in a good team. Sorry, but that trumps any 15% buff singe. If it was burn 50% like old school, that's another story.

Probably because there are plenty of reasons keeping them from doing so. Bounties, not unlocking them to begin with, and certain subclasses offering damage buffs that are better anyway.

      • Because strikes are easy AF. Yesterday was Void I think. I went Arc for a quest, never died, and had 150 kills. I don't even look at the Strike modifiers. I remember when strikes were relevant. You would log in on Tuesday to do nightfalls to get stranger coins and possibly an exotic. I think I did 3 nightfalls total for season 4.

        • Because my daily bounty that wants X kills with Y element is never the same as the daily strike. Nades still kill stuff, super still clears everything. I'd rather get my daily done than to get a boost of damage that I don't need. If not dailies, then I'm looking at what other people are running so I can finish the weekly that needs to match class types. I think it makes far more of a difference in what element type you pick on a weapon than matching your class with the weekly.

        • Because my melting point carries the 476 noobs I get 7/10 strikes

        • As a nightstalker main (top tree) its hard for me to think of a mission or strike where tether with rig isn't super beneficial to the team by eliminating a slew of adds and feed the team with a ton of orbs at the same time. The weapons I use are of the element singe but tether is just too good to not use regardless.

        • because unlike in D1 where "burn" actually mattered....... "singe" in D2 doesn't do much at all. and Bungie, whether they mean to or not, actually promotes this. you have a quest for a Pinnacle weapon - that requires you to run Arc. and get like 1000 kills. or the "singe" for the week is Void - and Bungie will put out bounties that say "get arc and solar kills in strikes".

        • The singe buff hardly does anything so most people just use what they want. Some people may want to run subclasses with abilities that help with boss melting.

        • I use whatever I like because the singe buff is barely noticeable and I’d rather not have to make a new armor set to match the weapons that a negligible buff would dictate. Just about every single strike I run, literally, I get more kills than the other two combined and make the most orbs.

          • It's because they're using what they find to be fun or most effective for them, not because of what some randoms that they never asked to be paired with wants them to do.

          • Could be particular bounties they have, especially if that bounty is for loaded question where you need arc kills.
