As it said in the GameInformer article, the “Mindbender” baron carved out their own ascendant realm.
Correct if I’m wrong but I thought only super strong hive could have ascendant realms.
Is there anything I’m missing?

1 ReplyIn the taken king expansion there is a mission (I forget the name) where Eris used hive magic to transport us out of the Crota's ascendant realm, if a guardian, a servant of the light, can use hive magic then it would be possible for other races to be able to use hive magic.
-
2 RepliesOnly those powerful enough in the sword logic are capable of it, not just hive. If I remember right, Toland did this as well.
-
5 RepliesAnyone and anything that uses the sword logic strong enough can create a throne world. The hive just did it first
yes I know the worms probably created a throne world before the hive, but that's not the point
Sword logic...

4 RepliesAs a Dreg, this guy fell into the Hellmouth. The same Hellmouth Eris and her team went into and only she came out of. There’s literally 0 telling what the hell is actually down there. He could’ve met up with Crota or some other Ascendant Hive and been taught their ways.

3 Replies<Well, if we go through the fact that The Fanatic resurrects these assholes with Darkness (energy around the EDZ is Taken energy, Taken energy = Darkness energy) it actually makes perfect sense that The Mindbender could have his own throne world. Oh and a trip to the Hellmouth does things to you.>
-
2 RepliesBecause reasons bro. As a dreg this dude falls down the hive hole known as the hellmouth, kinda like Eris Mones. He learns hive magic and is changed. Dude grows fat with power. Dude learns to command the hive. Dude even gets nokris's stuff to play with, like his undead mars hive. So the same darkness that changed Dregen Yor, The Hive, and now this Dreg, can be applied to any living thing. Does that make sense? All of that really happened according to bungie cord.

An ascendant realm is a pocket reality of tailored space/time. I assumed that any entity, with powerful enough and advanced technology/psychic ability, would be able to do so.
-
You have to become ascendant in order to have a throne world. It is possible for eliksni as with everything to ascend if they meet certain requirements. For example, we became ascendant in D1. However, to have a throne world is a different thing. If the Mindbender practices the Sword Logic as well as other hive practices, he could in theory have an ascendant realm, but this is a guess.
-
Well the way they become ascendant is through practicing the sword logic and killing a whole lot of things. So theoretically if the baron is practicing the sword logic if he killed enough people then he could have become ascendant.
-
Best guess the mind bender before being a baron studied hive magic and maybe to be an ascented hive had ascented hive parts and it on
-
1 ReplyAs it also said into the article, he ended up in the hellmouth and spent years learning a bunch of crazy hive stuff
-
Isn't the mind-bender baron the one who fused himself with Hive magics/biology? Perhaps that has something to do with it.
Ascended Relms aren't species specific. Any creature with enough paracausal power to their name could make one from scratch by cutting a wound in reality. Hiraks, who didn't have any form of higher power at the time, fell into the Hellmouth and made his way into Crota's Throne World. All Hive God Thrones (save for Oryx) are located in what is known as the Sword World, a pocket dimension where the laws of reality have been altered to align with the Sword Logic, making those who kill there observably stronger. Hiraks likely killed enough to establish his power in the Sword World to the point of either being a) strong enough to brut for his way through making his own Throne or b) intimidating enough that the Hive would leave him to his own devices, allowing him to study the world around him, and eventually figuring out how to craft a Throne through unconventional means.
-
We don't have the specifics on him besides the brief backstory. As long as he has a worm he can establish himself as ascendant if he forms a bond and then begins killing a large amount

8 RepliesEdited by GRAVEL: 7/7/2018 9:01:07 PMI think, all those times we referred to the upcoming DLC as 'The Taken Queen' to harken back to D1... I think Bungie took it seriously. I think they liked the idea of a Taken Queen following in the footsteps of The Taken King. Uldren, a taken-Uldren. The AWOKEN Home world Has ASCENDENT realms. Uldren's hearing familiar starlight voices... What ever happened to the Queen of the Reef? Why have we been hearing about Savunthun since day 1? I wonder?

What that says to me is that that Baron is more trouble than any other one out there lore wise.

If this is the “hive” like Fallen we’ve seen in trailers, I wouldn’t find this hard to believe. The fallen haven’t had any real psionic abilities, so if a fallen individual were able to steal the secrets of Hive Thanatology and Necromancy, it wouldn’t be that extreme to think that this Fallen could create his own throne world. Throne worlds are how the Hive avoid true death. If this Fallen was able to give the Scorn this absurdity, then we are in for a long ass war
-
The traveller use to hang with the fallen ,might of showed em a thing or to before dropping them
Is there anything I’m missing?
Yep.

"reasons" - bungie.

14 RepliesThere is a taken corruption involved with Uldren. Taken were created by a Hive god (Oryx) which links the Ascendant storylines. A taken presence is also in the dreaming city location. Watch xhoundish on YouTube for daily videos that allow you to not have to ask questions on forums. Better yet, follow bungie and bungie employees on here, Twitter, Reddit etc to get the information yourself.

Is there anything I’m missing?
Yes. Bungie are terrible writers. Just treat Destiny's story like a four year old describing a drawing they made. "Wow! Is that right, Luke? The Mindbender Baron carved out their own ascendant realm? Why, he must be a really powerful baddy to do that! I'm going to put that right here on the fridge, right next to Jon's sandbox patch notes"

1 ReplyIt‘s the basement where they live when they don‘t play D2. Everyone has one
