Don’t move this to the Feedback section; Hear me out...

Majority of the community would like to see random rolls return. I’ve posted this recently and now I’m making it visible to the managers. This system is sure to work. Random rolls were one of the key reasons why the game was successful. Although it gave us a grind, only a certain roll or two were desired based on the effectiveness of perks alone. Stuff like LitC, outlaw, counterbalance, rangefinder, shot package, and firefly were some of the most popular perks to have, rather you were playing PvP or PvE. The main issue wasn’t that people couldn’t get the “god roll”, it’s that the perks they were getting were underwhelming. It’s not too late to fix that! Random Rolls will beneficial for the game and bring back most of the population . However, every perk in the game needs to be on par with each other. There shouldn’t only be a small set of perks that are good. Buff every underrated perk. Then, to keep the grind going, we can keep the static rolls, BUT have a reforge system, that’ll allow you to change the current roll. To reforge a weapon, you must meet the following requirements: You must be at least lvl 20 and 305 power level The weapon being reforged must be a Masterworks weapon The cost for each time you reroll the perks will be 5 masterwork cores, 50 legendary shards, and 5000 Glimmer. Player feedback welcome. *Waiting for CM*. This is as humble as I can be with you guys right now with the state of the game. Picture is from one of Datto’s thumbnail pictures of his videos . • Did you actually think they were not going to move this to feedback :) I think random rolls would be a good thing but at this point it's not something they can do. Bungie mislead gamers on saying they are bringing random rolls back. I like how Bungie is never really clear until it's too late on what they actually mean, but most should know by now that that doesn't mean how D1 was. Bungie's idea on thing being brought back are, "hey guys! we can fix this". The sad thing about that? one should know to never mess with something that isn't broken.

    • This was quite literally the exact idea I had until you got to the cost of reforging. The weapon being a masterwork I can agree with. However, it shouldn't cost cores to reroll it. Maybe 100 Legendary Shards and 5k glimmer. You don't want to limit the chance of your rolls to RNG. Make it accessible to everyone. We can all hit 305. We can all get Legendary Shards and glimmer. We CAN'T all get Masterwork cores regularly.

What you’ve done here, is tell Bungie to do what the Divisionn has perfected in its game. I’ve said this since D1. Straight RNG without a single chance to manipulate it is Overly frustrating for those that want to stay competitive, but don’t have the same time as the “lifers”. With No ability to change random rolls, the frustration lies in “no light at the end of the tunnel”. In other words, I could play Destiny for 50 hours and maybe never get the roll I want. But with a recalibration ability I still have to grind, but I know there is an end to the madness sooner rather than later. Going to static rolls was too far to one side of the spectrum in a Loot game. It was stupid. Bungie has to go back to random rolls, but bring a monitory cost to allowing the user to re-roll (or what the Division calls “recalibrate”) a talent... or “perk” on the weapon. What the Division does is allow one talent to be rolled and once it is done it locks the other talents out so they can’t be changed. The only talent that can be rerolled is that same slot again... and each time you do roll it, it costs more materials. It’s the perfect system honestly for both grinding and eventually getting what you want. This adds the grind that so many want back in the game, but it also takes out the frustration of never getting that god roll because a perk or two is off. In the Division there is a small grind for guns and armor, but a bigger grind for materials so you can recalibrate said items. It’s the perfect middle ground and Bungie needs to wake up and get their heads outta their butts and implement it. And again, I’ve said this since D1. Even before the division. But Bungie didn’t listen, hopefully they listen now

          • Random rolls was the main grind for everything in D1. That’s why I played so much. Without it, I have no reason to play IB or get strike spec loot or anything else.

              • Random rolls without out powerful, damage-dealing or performance-enhancing perks, won't restore the end-game. The perk system has to be overhauled. Take explosive rounds away from Nameless Midnight. What are you going to replace it with that will make the weapon better? Nothing. The game has nothing to offer.

              • Random Rolls = Artificial Grind. WASTE of time for people that are productive in society (which are the folks that have the cash for MTX). PERKS are the issue. Bungie needs to unleash REALLY POWERFUL perks (at least for PVE) that bring out that total feeling of power that we had in D1.

                • How about when you get a duplicate gun with different rolls you can infuse into your current one and choose which of the perks to keep? Keeps the grind but reduces the vagaries of RNG

                  • I always liked re-rolling weapons. You were "customizing" a weapon you earned. For you. Every good FPS I've played is this way. You earn something, then make it yours... what's not to understand why that's good? Standardized tools within a game is ok, but Destiny is not that game.

What if...they implement a system where the first of each weapon you get is static or one of their fixed premade rolls, but after the first the perks get randomized on each drop. This way a player like myself who only wanted that gun for a specific roll doesn't have to grind, unless they want to, to get a different variant of the weapon, but people who like to try out different variations don't get stuck to just one. For example: I really like the roll on old fashioned and I probably wouldn't change anything about it (except fix the paint) but for people who don't like it, after the first one drops, they can continue to grind for it except it is now randomized. I don't know how hard it would be to code, but something like that could work. Edit: a reforge system would work, but apparently people didn't like it in HoW? I remember some sort of complaints about it that it made it too easy to get certain rolls or something like that. I'm all for weapon customization, but I don't know how long people would stay interested in it because it's kind of the same scenario as now where you only need one of the guns and then probably no more than that.

I’m not against random rolls but if you think it’ll bring back most of those of us who stopped playing.. You’d be delusional.. The perks on my gun won’t fix the lack of fun content or slow boring gameplay.. Random rolls are not content.. In D1 you overestimate how many of us cared to run around for what you call a “god roll”.. Most of the time you could get these great weapons just playing normally.. No need to go out of your way to farm them.. Unless for what ever reason you felt it was an absolute must to have a certain roll..

                                  • We haven't agreed on much and I didn't like the way Random Rolls and Reforging were in D1 but this is a good suggestion on a way to implement this. For me mainly because your requirements for re-rolling is expensive. The biggest issue I had in D1, as a player who could not play 30+ hours a week, is that it was too easy to re-roll for people who had that play time and more and it was less easy for people who could not. Not because I don't believe in 'time played = better gear' but because people who had that amount of time to play had the time to farm for enough materials to re-roll infinitely to get the God rolls. People who had less time to play needed to put that time into either leveling OR just general grinding. There was less time to put into just material farming. Re-roll opportunities were limited. Your examples put a decent cost on re-rolling which hopefully wouldn't create that much of a power gap in PVP.

                                    • Random rolls is a small piece of the puzzle for me tbh I'm happy not playing had my moneys worth!, although If bungie wanted me to be a Hobbyist within the destiny franchise I'd need better class trees/more classes, better loot systems/reward systems, I'd also like to See All loot effect game play some way or another ships/sparrows/ghosts/armor... I'd would like to see Trade skills + a real Economy with trading and auction houses. I'd Like Dedicated Servers and better playlist options in PVP, I'd also like to see a solo queue for competitive and trails. I'd also like aim assist/3rd person elements removed from competitive modes. I feel like just reverting to random rolls would not be interesting enough to make me a destiny hobbyist, everything needs more depth not just weapons but that's just me!
