Daybreak Wars Ch. 2 pt. 2: The Queen of Crucible

Aurora strutted across the Tower plaza, and down into the Hall of Guardians to speak with Lord Shaxx in person. It did not take long for other Guardians to notice her pristine gold and white armor as it seemed to glow, but they were soon more aware of how well it outlined the curvature of her body. “I'm here for my victory glimmer,” she said.     “Ah yes, Aurora Sinh, the Starcaster herself. Here is your 4,500 glimmer for your solo Elimination victory; quite impressive,” Shaxx said as he passed over a large blue cube of glimmer.     “Yes, indeed,” Aurora leaned up against the desk. “Shaxx, I know you're all about getting Guardians to work together, but I'm just not a team player. How about you let me stay in Rumble so I can kill all the noobs I want? And it won't look bad on City Crucible Live. That way I'm happy, you're happy, everyone will be happy.”     “Fine, if you're comfortable with Rumble, then you can keep playing it. I just figured you might like a change of pace,” Shaxx replied.     “Thanks. Now, I got an evening of relaxation calling my name. Tah-tah,” she said as she walked off.     “Hello, Aurora, nice to have you back at the Tower,” Cayde-6 said as he passed her on his way to the Vanguard Hall. He noticed all of the Guardians staring at the huntress as she ascended the stairs. He began to chuckle. “Come on, guys, be professional… You're supposed to take a peek, then look away.” The other Guardians snapped out of their lustful gaze, then continued their business of exchanging weapons and armor.     Aurora flew down to the City, to her skyscraper penthouse that seemed to be sixty percent window. Every room had a beautiful view of the city below, and of the Traveler above. The woman pressed a button beside the apartment door, then watched as all of the windows darkened, preventing anyone from outside to see in.     “Anything I could get you, madam?” asked a black and white ghost.     “Um, what fruit do we have?”     “Fresh pineapple, grapes, and a cantaloupe,” the ghost replied.     “I'll take all three,” Aurora replied.     “Of course, madam.”     “Thanks, Oliver.”     While Oliver was in the kitchen preparing a platter, Aurora took this opportunity to store her armor on a mannequin and got into a more comfortable nightgown. She climbed into her massive bed, then began surfing channels.     “Here you are,” Oliver said as he laid the plate down.     “Hey, are there any good movies playing?” the Awoken asked.     “Oh! There's a movie about two rogue Guardians running from the law as well as fighting some mad murderer,” the ghost replied. “Based on a true story, if I'm not mistaken.”     “Sounds cliché.” Aurora took a handful of grapes and began eating them one at a time. She, then, reached to a cabinet beside her and grabbed a wine bottle and glass, and grabbed a computer chip designed for ghosts to assimilate. “Come on, join me,” she said as she tossed Oliver the chip.     The next morning, Aurora was suiting up for the Crucible once again. She transmatted her armor on while Oliver polished off her collection of Exotic weapons: a gilded Monte Carlo auto rifle, a black and gold Hawkmoon hand cannon, a pristine white Telesto fusion rifle, and a shining Sol-Edge. Aurora walked out of the bathroom and attached the Monte Carlo--her personal favorite--to her back. After sliding her helmet on and pulling her hood up, she was ready to join the fray.     Guardians had gathered in the hallway of an abandoned Cabal base on Phobos, chatting with each other as they waited for the Rumble match to begin. As soon as Aurora walked in, all attention was on her; many were scared to see her in the same lobby, others were excited to be in the presence of a Crucible legend. She enjoyed the attention and continued to walk around.     “Maybe after I kill her here, I'll take her down somewhere else…” a random titan whispered as he elbowed his hunter partner. Aurora turned her head slightly and inspected the titan.     “Don't let her hear that,” the hunter replied, sounding genuinely concerned.     “Don't let me hear what?” Aurora asked as she approached the two. The hunter gulped, then looked toward his friend. “Let's make a deal: If you beat me in this match, I'm all yours…”     “What if you win?” the titan asked.     “Then I won't hold it against you. Let's face it, either way, you don't have what it takes…” Aurora lightly punched the titan’s shoulder then walked off.     “This won't be good,” the hunter said as he placed his face in his hand.     Shaxx gave the word, and six Guardians were released into a war zone where everyone was against everyone. Now, everyone was in the domain of Aurora Sinh. The huntress flexed her fingers, then took her auto rifle from off of her back. “Good to be back,” she said before charging into combat.     Aurora ran into a narrow hallway, where she encountered a hiding warlock with a shotgun. The huntress gripped the barrel of the weapon and aimed it toward the floor before she was shot, then punched the Guardian against the wall. The warlock pumped another shell, but Aurora kicked the shotgun out of his hands entirely. The warlock thrust his arm forward, hoping to force push the Awoken away while he grabbed his sidearm; however, the huntress grabbed his arm and flung him against another wall, then finished him with a knife.     Aurora ran into another, much larger hallway, then was struck by a bullet to the shoulder. She fell to the ground, but scurried to cover and checked the wound; it was bleeding bad. Unable to carry a rifle until Oliver healed her, she took her Hawkmoon and waited on her ghost. “How long is this going to take?” she asked.     “You must be patient. In the meantime, 9:00…” Oliver replied. Aurora snapped her head to the left and fired four shots into a hunter trying to stab her. “Okay, you're good. Let's move,” Oliver declared. The huntress attached her hand cannon back onto her hip, then took her auto rifle from her ghost. Immediately after stepping out of her hiding spot, her assassin--who was hiding in the glare of the dawning sun--took another shot, this time killing her.     “D***it!” Aurora exclaimed after she was revived. She took a deep breath, then charged back into battle. She found herself in the heart of the base, where a balcony looked out over the three entrances. This was one of two kill zones on the map; her favorite places to be. To reduce the chances of anyone ambushing her from behind, Aurora stuck an arc mine in front of one of the three doors, then watched the other two.     One of the two doors opened, revealing a warlock frantically reloading his weapon. Without mercy, Aurora gunned him down with the lightweight machine gun that is the Monte Carlo. She noticed that the warlock wasn't intending to enter the chamber, but seemed to be occupied with someone else, so she kept her sights trained on the door. It opened again, but only long enough to let a lone grenade through.     Aurora was still alive, but her vision was impaired; it was a flashbang. Once her vision finally cleared, she saw the titan from the lobby hurling a plasteel fist her way. She quickly dodged out of the way, but before she could get to a vantage point, the titan grabbed her by the throat and threw her back against the wall. “Oh, it's… you…” Aurora said to the titan she met in the lobby as she tried to break his grip.     “First impressions matter,” the titan replied as he drew back his arm.     “This… would be… your second,” Aurora declared before yanking her arc mine off the wall and shoving it in the titan’s face.     Once the Guardian was dead, Aurora rubbed her sore neck, then picked up her auto rifle. Without any effort, she gunned down a hunter, then darted out of the base. Ghosts scattered the courtyard outside; it was the other kill zone on the map. The Awoken, ready to have some more fun, collected a cartridge of special ammo and loaded her Telesto fusion rifle. CONTINUE TO PART 3
