Teleporting enemies, needs to be fixed

This has really got to be fixed. Enemies in Destiny 2 have a terrible habit of teleporting. And I don't mean using a dodge ability, I mean they just disappear and end up somewhere else. This definitely isn't lag on my part, because other players in the world don't do this. It's only the enemy ai. I'm not sure if it's a pathfinding problem, or if their processes were moved over to the server side of the new hybrid system and the servers have problems, or if they are just damned bugged. But it sucks. Can't tell you how many times I've been trying to take cover to recover my health, and an enemy just warps behind me and shoots me in the back. It's also just really annoying to try to shoot enemies that don't obey the laws of physics.

    • it happens when they can't pathfind to the location they were directed to. they just teleport. in gauntlet in particular, they made the enemies teleport out of the door on purpose, because there were lots of issues in d1 where enemies not coming out of doors due to pulse grenades, aoe abilities, ect. would screw up the ques in a round and throw off the rhythm of an encounter. so they just made them teleport outside of the door, rather than try to pathfind through it. but only in some instances. it's just design. some of it needs reworking imo, but that's your answer.

        • Bungie just wants the PvE players to experience lag switching that run rampant in PvP.

        • Sadly, It probably won't be fixed. Same stuff happened on D1; most of the community asked for dedicated servers to stop this kind of thing; Bungie said "We don't want to make this kind of investment"; same thing happens again on D2.As long as Bungie runs the game using potatoes, It'll happen again and again, no matter how good your Internet is.

        • I'm gonna be honest, I don't care about this. I think we should establish a system that actually makes us want to play the game before minor PvE AI changes are made. I agree this is an issue, but it's minor. We should focus on priorities. I'm glad you raised awareness at Bungie by putting this on the forum tho. Good job

          • The exact same thing happened in D1. Same as lag in the crucible. Loading times into strikes. Loading times into the tower. Tower being empty. I hope they didn’t spend much on this “hybrid” system.

          • That’s called lag. It’s more than likely on your end.

                • Bump, I play with a wired ethernet connection and I have the fastest internet available. Even when you have the perfect setup, every once in a while the enemies tend to do that. Dedicated servers would probably fix that but idk

                    • I was just about to post the same thing. I don't often see this on PS4, but now on PC I'm seeing tonnes of lag-like effects in enemies and that in the PvE portion of the game (campaign, patrols.) Enemies will be shot or knocked off a platform only for them to reappear back on it or moved to a completely different place. Shots hit and take damage off enemies health for them to instantly recover it a fraction of a second later. Bungie, I guess since those of us in New Zealand are lumped into the Americas region on battle.net does that mean we should just expect crazy lag in all parts of our gameplay experience? ('cause battle.net has a history of being extremely awful for those of us in Oceania, and only once they added local Australian servers for WoW / Diablo 3 did we see our latency drop down to the 50ms range.) I tend to avoid PvP in many games due to the latency, but I shouldn't have to avoid the PvE portions either. Currently if I look at the connections being made in relation to Destiny 2 on PC I see between 180-270 ms latency for each thread/connection. That seems (and feels) bad. Is there something you can do to address this as it is hurting our experience playing the game.

                      • Bump... I honestly find it more annoying when the high-value target you are shooting sudden disappears. Hopping on your sparrow, you eventually find him on the other side of the map, just about to despawn. That's annoying as heck...

                      • The only time I really ever notice this is specifically in the raid and more specificity gauntlet. After the ads are killed and the heavys come out I whip out my sword and it seems like my heavy guy always had an animation issue where he lands as though the platform was raised and then warped to the ground in a different spot. I usually am stuck waiting under him until he teleports to the right level and slash him up. It's not hard or something that breaks the encounter but it is very odd to see happen all the time.

This happens to everyone I know, but you know Bungie will blame everyone but themselves. It IS an issue on Bungie's end, and it is NOT an issue with individual connections.

                        • That is due to connection errors. Whenever either your connection (or another player’s) is bad, it results in odd things like that. Someone may enter the patrol area who is on a really weak internet connection, and that plays havoc.

I'm noticing this from time to time as well. It definitely isn't lag on my end.
