Anyone think it's a little stupid that your guardian doesn't talk ever?? This would add so much to the game. I wouldn't be difficult to have a few voice actors so you could pick how you sound.
What do people think??

Check this out. Footsge of D1 One of the first (maybe first) mission? https://www.dualshockers.com/yes-your-guardian-has-a-voice-in-destiny-you-can-hear-them-all-here/

I just don’t like how in destiny your character did talk and then all sudden stopped. I miss hearing my guardian talk. Those two lines in forsaken wasn’t enough

I would be okay if this mute thing works but it doesn’t. Half-Life does a awesome job with this tactic. Like in Destiny 2, when Ghaal pushes you and your ghost falls; then the guardian puts his hand out, that scene could have been much better if the guardian scream or something. Or when the clan lady asks you to ride one of their ships, the guardian would be like; I, once, drove a hive ship toward Oyrx’s Dreadnaught by using a stealth drive, yeah I can drive one of these easily. I would accept the mutes as long as there weren’t any hunts, or screaming when you died. It makes me wonder who would be the ones that join you when Eris mention that you killed Crota though unless the guardian solo Crota, lol!

To all the people who say your character doesn't talk because its supposed to be you, I have one thing to say. THAT IS STUPID. The in game character is exactly that, a character. Your character can be mute, it's been done well before, but in a game like this it is not done well. In games like half life, or portal, or the early COD games your character is mute and it's done well because the other characters never really address you directly and when they do your character speaks with actions. In destiny you basically have the ghost speak for you. Imagine if in halo Cortana said everything the chief would normally say, It's like that. Also the character can't be me because I'm not mute.

3 RepliesThey do this so you can put yourself in the game, it wouldn't be destiny if your guardian spoke.
-
1 ReplyBecause your guardian, is supposed to be you, yes you can argue, in destiny 1 they gave your guardian a voice, but after that he never speaks again, my guess is they changed their minds, and decided to make him mute, in order to make you feel more connected, the half life series does the same thing, for what I guess is the same reason, but it could be another reason, I personally choose to believe this, after all my character is supposed to be me in the virtual world.
-
1 ReplyI think it is a good thing. Its allows you to be the character or the character that you imagine. It's like reading a book. You imagine what the character sounds like and looks like. Then that book becomes a movie and your like, what know why is that the character I was thinking not even close.

2 RepliesMine doesn't talk because it has social anxiety.
-
We don't have time to explain why we don't have time to talk!
-
IKR? I really liked the voice-over for the Male Exo character in Destiny 1; it'd be nice to hear my Exo Titan speak again. Maybe in the expansions? Please, Bungie?
-
4 Repliesi agree with you its so stupid. its not like this game is zelda. how hard is it to have the main character talk in a game?
-
2 Repliesto be fair, our guardian only had a handful of lines in D1 and that was only in year 1, none of the DLCs gave us more lines. and even then the lines we did have were stuff like "we go down" and "come along.....little light" they never consisted of more than a few words at a time.
-
They needed a new Gordon Freeman since Half Life 3 will never ever be made. I think they did a great job replacing Gordan Freeman with the Guardians. The days of Mime heroes has returned!!!
-
It's really sad. He/she just stands there and is asked a direct question only for the ghost to answer it. The expression on the guardians face even has the look like they want to talk but can't.

1 ReplyCheaper to get one voice actor than six.
-
2 RepliesI agree! Says nothing at all!! Was really surprised by that!

Edited by juharr: 9/12/2017 1:14:52 PMGoing in I thought all the complaining about the characters not having a voice was over blown. Having played through the campaign once and half way on two other characters I think it would have been nice to have them talk just in cut scenes. No need for them to talk over comms just when in person with another character. With that said it's not a major flaw. As for why, maybe all those deaths and rebirths have taken a toll on the guardians voice box. All the NPCs are fine because they leave the heavy lifting to us.

5 RepliesI tihnk my guardian is just mindless undead that is serving Light to dispose of his enemies. He is being driven by small, stupid flying bot and just obeys. Since Ghaul is a threath to his Master, Traveler, my mindless undead beast needs to proceed with extermination. Well, at least thats how I tell myself. True reason- Bungie is lazy and resell us same shit as in D1. Why make something new (same with extorics and subclasses) if people will buy it anyway, eh?
-
It's strange, but I think the reason they did it is so you can put yourself on the guardians shoes. Can't do that when they speak for you and Bungie was too lazy to Mass Effect-ify the game and make dialogue choices. They wanted "you" to become Legend, not a boring slate of a "character" that was our guardian in D1.
-
Maybe guardians are the traveler now? Or The traveler and guardian are having a silent contest. Both knew the tower would be destroyed but didn't want to lose to the other. So they said nothing but didnt anticipate the traveler being captured and the guardian losing their light. Not even the ghost knew about the contest.
#imfullofshit
Yeah the mute thing bugs me so much. Our guardian talked during D1 but now he/ she/ it doesn't say a word, it's silly. It looks so awkward watching the interactions.

Edited by ThePunkPanther: 9/12/2017 5:33:03 AMI was pretty upset too but I set up my own story why my guardian doesn't speak. As I play an Exo, I told myself that his voice modulator has been damaged during his first encounter with Ghaul, explaining why we doesn't hear him yelling at his fallen ghost when this one is thrown away. I prefer this idea that the no reason from Bungie ;)

1 ReplyThis game ships in multiple languages. Moving lips isn't easy when dealing with... idk how many languages is this released in? Anyways...it's quite a few.
-
I honestly like silent protagonists, so I think it's fine

Edited by hallfrom: 9/12/2017 5:06:09 AMsaving the cost of voice acting, but we will pretend that this character can not talk since it died 1000 years ago

I don't mind too much. However, what bugs me is that my guardian kept opening her mouth during cutscenes almost like she was going to say something. Then I'm pretty sure I saw voice actors for player characters in the credits. Bungie continuing with the cut content or is my tin foil hat on too tight?
