  • Essentially what you're saying is that if an Atheist makes an argument about an individual(s) that do heinous crimes it is contradictory to their way of belief. The words evil/good do not derive from the bible nonsense, words, signs, portrayal of the human race have been passed down way before religion was introduced to man. So to say Atheists are contradicting themselves when discussing about Theodicy is abit of a stretch. The problem of evil is that there are bad people in this world and is not reflective of any higher power, it has no relation to religion whatsoever. I would argue that religion was created for one purpose: Control and Power over the weak and frail population.

  • But to say there is evil, you must admit an objective good. You must admit that there exists an absolute standard by which to measure or judge men and women's deeds. I'm not arguing that there are bad people, but I am arguing that atheism cannot supply a sufficient foundation in and of itself from which to determine good and evil. Not objectively, anyway.

  • Do you think the standard was brought in because of Religion? To an extent yes, religion was created to gain control of the population, hence why we still see the 10 commandments within the rule of law. But again; this was man's creation, not God's. It still does not make an Atheists argument invalid for arguing the evil and good of the world. Religion is a man-made way of life. Animals do not abide by any code of ethics/law, only us humans do.

  • That's where your fault lies. This standard wasn't "brought in." Otherwise it would be completely subjective, and therefore, completely ineffective. This standard has always been. It's simply a part of the nature of God. He is good. Because we are made in His image, we also possess an inherent knowledge of the standard. We inherently understand that some things are better, are more morally right, than others.

Unless you can prove that there is a higher power, there's no way you can convince an Atheist or even agnostics. This is why people have jumped onto the science bandwagon. People want answers, people want innovation. Religion has been stagnant for hundreds of years preaching the same literature. You can go ahead and believe whatever you want, but don't start calling people wrong for how they want to live their life. Edit: There are also 1000+ other religions in the world, what's to say yours is the correct one?

He's also claiming how his religion is the the one an only. That atheist not believing and still using certain connotations invalidates their belief. Typical religious fanatics. Same camp on the other end, but two wrongs don't make a right.

  • Only outspoken extremists. Do I think religious people are wrong or silly to believe in god? To an extent, and yes, respectively. I'm not going to tell them they're stupid, or wrong to believe though. That's their prerogative. They can do that if they like.
