Ban Players Without Good Enough Internet!

I see all these extremists saying to remove SBMM. I'll defend the other extreme. Why should one person's internet quality ruin my experience in a game. Ruining a competitive environment with sub-par internet is not acceptable. You can't play sports or any other competitive thing without proper equipment. Video games should not be an exception. Either move them into a different pool of players entirely or outright ban them. There is no reason that those players deserve to ruin fun for others just because they do not have good internet. Q and A "Why should laggy players get punished for not having good internet" - It was that persons decision to join in a competitive game and ruin smooth game-play for others. "I can't get better internet where I live!" - There are other alternatives of competitive gaming aside from PvP Fps. There are games like Hearthstone where you don't need good internet in the slightest to play. There are also turn based games that don't require good internet. You could even consider speed running PvE games as competitive. "I payed for this game. I'll play it how I please!" - You bought access to destiny. That is just one of many steps to being able to play it. You need a console, tv/monitor, electricity, and good quality internet. Play all the PvE content you want.Just be sure you have good enough internet before you start playing PvP.

    • Not everyone knows how or have the means to set up a constant and stable connection for their consoles. I can garentee that 10 year old playing destiny pvp with a 2.5 kd has no idea what "port forwarding" is. So you cant expect everyone to just know how to do it. There isnt exactly an easy way to do so.

        • If they had dedicated servers I would be okay with this. However they don't so I'm just going to hope if this ever haplens you get shafted and end up as one of the banned laggy ones. ;-)

With P2P it is somewhat useless calling some ones internet poor they might connect without issues to one host yet red bar to a other. It has to be a commonly occuring bad connection from a player across multiple hosts before that could be determined. For example a person red barring in your particular match may have been green bar the previous 5 or 6. Fact is a lowly 1mb/s up down is more than adequate for online gaming there is no game in existence requiring more than (or even close to) 3.6 GB per hour speed is irrelevant unless bandwith is being chewed by multiple gamers on one connection, downloading/uploading while gaming or streaming.

        • Instead of ban people from the game they should start banning elitist with light level of 400 from pvp since you have already made it to the top light level. The problem is not there there Internet connection but bungie servers that are crap I've got good internet connection but it always stuff up when there's cheats around.

        • I know how you feel I really do. I have seen more red bar captains of the crucible than I could count. I report and I am sure it means nothing. Here is one thing to remember though. Connection distance is everything. With their stupid SBMM some times players are being hosted from half way round the world. Kind of hard to maintain a good ping in an environment like that. It is rather odd that Bungie is creating at least some small part of the problem but still willing to ban people for it. I would feel better about that policy if they had connection based matchmaking at least. No excuse for a lot of it but i think some are just being connected too far from home to have a good connection.
